Qualifications

  • University degree from a reputable institution with an outstanding academic record; postgraduate degree in business administration, accounting, finance or related fields preferred
  • 2 years of relevant working experience
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and quantitative skills, as well as curiosity and a passion for research
  • Interest in the corporate finance domain with intermediate/advanced content knowledge
  • Superb people skills, strong team-orientation, and a professional attitude
  • Ability to work under pressure and deliver on tight deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish – including the ability to interact effectively at all levels of a large international organization

You’ll work in a McKinsey Client Capability Hub in Costa Rica as part of the Strategy & Corporate Finance Capabilities & Insights Team. 

The Strategy & Corporate Finance Insights team is McKinsey’s center of excellence in advanced analytics for Strategy and Corporate Finance. Its purpose is to empower teams with advanced, yet easy-to-use, analytical capabilities that can generate superior insights and transform client conversations. To this end, the Strategy & Corporate Finance practice, in conjunction with the McKinsey Global Institute, has assembled one of the world’s most sophisticated groups of experts, sets of databases, and analytical techniques. The Strategy & Corporate Finance practice also publishesValuation: Measuring and Managing the Value of Companies. Valuation is widely used as a reference in corporate finance and valuation around the globe, and was recently released in its 7th edition.

What You'll Do

You will articulate, scope, and prioritize research needs, and identify and gather relevant information using a broad spectrum of appropriate sources. 

They also provide synthesis, insight, and practical implications within tight deadlines, via end products in the form of written summaries, financial models, basic fact packs, and spreadsheets and serve as a thought partner, who can both engage in team problem solving and contribute to knowledge creation initiatives.

Over time, research analysts will develop a solid grounding in core principles of corporate finance. As your career evolves, you may become a senior analyst and develop deep insights into corporate finance issues. You also start working with specialists, experts and senior leaders of the practice to help McKinsey teams identify and evaluate critical financial and strategic issues for discussions with senior client executives, and also spend some time working directly on client engagements.
