Overview 概述
The Senior Designer plays a strategic role in BISSELL’s Consumer Design Team with accountability for aesthetic strategies and project deliverables for product developed for Globe, and for Chinese Consumers. They are a contributing core team member of the cross-functional Global Category Leadership Team (GCLT) which is responsible for recommending new products, refining product scope, and executing product development plans.
Creating and evolving BISSELL’s Visual Brand Language is a key mission for the Senior Designer. They have a shared responsibility with the other design category leads to deliver compelling aesthetic design strategies which address the attributes of form, interactions, color, materials, finishes & graphics. The Senior Designer in China is expected to provide insights on consumers in their region, product design trends and the competitive landscape to directly influence the collective design strategy.
The Senior Designer is responsible for the timely execution of all Consumer Design deliverables outlined in the Global Product Development (GPD) process for products in their category. They are expected to progress projects through early design phases through their own industrial design contributions, as well as supporting internal / external industrial designers, product graphic design, CMF design and Interaction Design (IxD).
Close collaboration with cross-functional project team & GCLT members is critical to success, therefore building strong partnerships with Sales, Marketing, Engineering & Purchasing are imperative. The Senior Designer is expected to help establish a category vision together with these peers and support the presentation of strategies and the related products to BISSELL’s leadership and customers.

Support Advanced Development Innovation Workshops which help define future opportunity spaces and help ideate potential technology solutions
Create concept properties which establish a vision for the categories future
Aesthetics Attribute / Visual Brand Language
Accountable for creating and governing the VBL for the China region.
Collaborate will the other design leads, managers and director in supporting the overall VBL strategy for BISSELL
Be a strong voice in weekly critiques to influence the VBL across categories
Provide design insights, trends and competitive intelligence for their category
Execution of GPD Projects
Contribute to Phase Zero Consumer Experience definition and technology selection by helping define consumer concept research and connecting products with appropriate advanced technologies
Accountable for the design and delivery for all category projects delivering on the Visual Brand Language strategy and winning in consumer preference research
Support feature / function ideation in early phases in project teams to drive towards concepts which deliver on BISSELL’s mission statement and delight consumers
Closely collaborate with the Design Manager to ensuring that all projects are properly resourced and managed per the GPD process deliverables
Closely collaborate with the Aesthetic Attributes Design Lead to ensure consistence in the deployment of color, material, finishes and product graphic elements
Select & managing external design partners as needed to support development
People management
Plan the work and assignments of direct reports
Foster a healthy design culture for the Consumer Design staff as a whole
Provide creative inspiration and develop direct reports to operate at higher level
Appraise the performance of each direct reporting associate and influence the hiring, firing, and compensation decisions related to direct reports
Develop associates through challenging assignments; creating a learning environment within the team; and proposing the use of cutting-edge tools & processes

Qualifications 资格
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:
Degree minimum: Bachelor of Fine Arts or Science in Industrial Design
Experience level: 7+ years of practical work experience in Industrial Design within the consumer product sector • experience in managing multiple projects, resources through all development phases • ability to influence cross-functional creative and technical teams to improve the outcome of design
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:
Preferred experience level: familiar with consumer concept testing and methods • knowledgeable on a variety of materials & manufacturing methods • experienced in user-centric design related to physical & digital user interfaces • capable of preparing and facilitating creativity workshops • familiar with financial inputs to business plans
SPECIALIZED TRAINING OR SKILLS REQUIRED:
This position requires the ability to manage the flow of data, perform analysis, generate summary reports and communicate by voice or data while being connected in the office, at home or while travelling by laptop or mobile device regularly without regard to time zone or day of the week. Software knowledge required for Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office Programs, along with good knowledge of 3D surfacing software for data review purposes.
