JOB DESCRIPTION

The VP Marketing will provide leadership and overall strategy to oversee, develop, and employ all marketing and digital initiatives and branding efforts to achieve long and short-term goals. This position will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of fan engagement and acquisition strategies of the marketing and digital teams. This position will work in lockstep with the Live Events and Creative Team to direct omni-channel marketing campaigns that support all facets of the business, ultimately acquiring fans and driving ticket sales, sponsorship and ancillary revenue. This role requires a strategic leader who can collaborate and lead across departments, as well as facilitate the use of data and technology to grow a robust and diverse fan database. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide leadership and overall marketing strategy to oversee, develop, and employ various marketing initiatives, campaigns, and branding efforts to achieve long and short-term goals.
  • Develop and oversee marketing and advertising plans for the regular season and post-season, team events, ticket campaigns and community campaigns, implementing traditional and non-traditional media including managing budgets, media buying, negotiation and promotions.
  • Lead multi-channel marketing strategies (email, app, text, website, social, digital platforms, multi-media) to achieve business and ticket revenue goals and fulfill sponsorship campaigns.
  • Develop strategies through interface and collaboration with business intelligence to create fan pathways and journeys with personalized engagement across all channels.
  • Collaborate with the BI/analytics department for the development of appropriate metrics and research to measure the effectiveness of brand in advertising and marketing campaigns.
  • Enhance and reimagine the teams’ Social Media strategy and presence to grow acquire a more diverse fan base and engage fan communities for organic growth.
  • Ensure application of research and data for fan segmentation, user journeys and customer lifetime value strategies.
  • Oversee the marketing department including progress and performance to ensure assigned work is completed correctly, efficiently and on deadline and follow up on work results. Provide mentorship and guidance to develop marketing staff by providing information, educational opportunities, and experiential growth opportunities.
  • Lead cross-departmentally in a manner that creates strategic measures to enhance the goals of all departments.
  • Work in collaboration with corporate partnership leaders to integrate partner brands and support activations as part of global marketing strategy.
  • Lead and direct grass-roots marketing efforts and events in collaboration with Events, Hockey Development and Community teams.

  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capability to adapt and pivot in response to unforeseen challenges.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to create and foster relationships
  • Knowledge of media buying, negotiating, and documenting agreements
  • Knowledge of the sports industry and fan demographics
  • Demonstrated business acumen
  • Proven ability to coach and lead a team of skilled individuals
  • Strong organizational skill with attention to detail
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and Photoshop
  • Able to pivot between day-to-day business needs and strategic initiatives. VP of Marketing must be flexible, serving in a dual role of leader and “doer”

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:

Education:

  • BA/BS Degree (4-year) in Marketing, Communication, Business or a related field; Advanced degree preferred

Experience:

  • 10 + years related work experience, with 10 plus years in a leadership role
  • Experience working with and creating budgets
  • Solid experience working with brand identity, advertising, digital marketing and social media strategy best practices
  • Experience developing and implementing data driven frameworks to measure program effectiveness.

Pay Scale: $150,679 - $215,000
