Job Description

The Federal Planning Group of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Planning Intern to be based in the Arlington, VA office.

This position is expected to begin Summer 2024.

The Planning Intern will serve on multi-disciplinary planning projects for mainly military installations and federal agencies as well as urban, community, and environmental projects. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Compiling data and conducting research in support of project delivery.
  • Creating graphics to support the planning documents.
  • Playing a key role in the preparation of plans.
  • Writing sections of planning reports and documents.
  • Producing material for project meetings and workshops.
  • Communicating effectively with project team and manager.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Urban and Regional Planning or another related field.
  • Must have completed 1 year of study.
  • Due to the nature of work, U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a Master's Degree in Urban and Regional Planning or related field.
  • Prior internship experience preferred.
  • Positive outlook and can-do attitude approach to tasks and teamwork.
  • Exceptional writing, research, analysis and communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to balance priorities.
  • Effective problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Efficient and organized worker with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Apt at developing creative and innovative graphics and project layout.
  • Follows guidance well with little oversight.
  • Experience with the following is a plus: ArcGIS, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, AutoCAD, Sketchup Pro, and Adobe Photoshop.

  • Non-Exempt Position: Offered rate of compensation (Virginia locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The hourly range for this position is $19.00 - $26.12/hr.
