Senior Business Process and Application Training Specialist

The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) has an exciting opportunity for a Business Process and Application Senior Training Specialist. The selected candidate will work as a member of the Business Applications Training Team. The selected candidate will fill either position commensurate with education and experience.

The Business Process and Application Senior Training Specialist engages a diverse variety of people in learning situations, applying adult learning theory and knowledge of learning styles in developing modern learning solutions. The incumbent in this position will join the project’s five member training team and, under limited supervision, will plan, design, develop, implement and update training materials and deliver training, which will support the professionals who use UMB’s Oracle Cloud Financials & Human Capital Management (HCM) as well as other administrative applications. The incumbent in this position will also help answer questions and support the user community. The course mix includes materials for online, in-application, standalone reference and instructor-led delivery. 

The University currently uses Oracle Cloud Financials, Oracle Planning & Budgeting and Oracle Analytics Cloud Services. The Business Applications Training Team creates and delivers training as well as contributing support for these and several other administrative systems. Team members may also be called on to participate in administrative system implementation training, such as travel reimbursement, payroll, or human resource systems. The University is in the process of implementing uPerform as its training/development software (replacing Oracle User Productivity Kit).

Primary Duties:

  • Assess, analyze, and select appropriate training methodologies using traditional or alternative methods, techniques, and formats including a variety of eLearning and blended learning formats including web based, online, and video.
  • Develop, prepare, and maintain skill-based training materials including in-application support, step-by-step tutorials, job aids, participant guides, user manuals, facilitated and computer-based presentations, etc. based on adult learning development theories to users of various business processes and applications.
  • Follow documentation standards and implementation strategy.
  • Collaborate with technical and functional staff and users on customization of curriculum and assist in the development of training plans.
  • Facilitate/conduct training live, online, or in a blended format.
  • Contribute to resolving end user issues including providing daily support and advice to end users of specified Enterprise systems.
  • Develop subject matter expertise of business processes and principles to incorporate into the training. For example, training on timesheets would include an explanation of how jobs are defined as nonexempt from overtime and exempt from overtime.
  • Provide advanced level daily support and advice to end users of specified Enterprise systems.
  • Participate in the review, selection, acquisition, and implementation of new instructional technologies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: 

Bachelor's degree and three (3) years directly related business experience working in the field of training OR four (4) years of functional business experience in areas such as finance, accounting, human resources, payroll, or other related fields that the business application supports. Experience with business audio/visual, multimedia production, technology education/training, or instructional design experience required.

Other: Proficiency with training documentation and principles applicable to the application. Use of computer presentation applications.

Salary: Commensurate with education and experience.
