ABOUT THE ROLE

You will ensure that the content across Cosmopolitan, Prima and Red is accurate, legal, of an excellent standard and adheres to each title’s tone and house style. Assisting the Group Chief Sub Editor you will ensure a coordinated workflow and production process of content for the three brands, from raw copy through to sending pages to press, and all other platforms ensuring deadlines are met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To deputise for the Group Chief Sub Editor in their absence.
  • To work with the Group Chief Sub Editor to manage workflow and successfully coordinate the production cycles of the three brands.
  • To police copy deadlines in coordination with the Group Chief Sub Editor to ensure a consistent and orderly flow of copy and layouts.
  • Subbing content to a high standard, ensuring copy is accurate, fact-checked, and functions according to each brand’s house style.
  • Willing to give creative input and elevate pages through on-brand captions, headlines and rewriting of copy, particularly on international reuse content where references, jokes and tone may differ.
  • Checking the work of the Sub Editors to ensure it reaches the desired standards.
  • Liaise with Women’s Lifestyle art hub about the flow of layouts.
  • To refer copy/layouts to the legal department where necessary.
  • Checking with writers/contributors/content editors where necessary.
  • To circulate page proofs throughout the brand editorial teams and take in corrections as directed.
  • To liaise with the production department to manage the sending of pages to press.
  • Liaising with marketing, digital and subscriptions departments over relevant pages to ensure they meet requirements.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, InDesign and Censhare
  • Good communicator
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Calm under pressure
  • Capable of juggling several tasks at once and able to prioritise
  • Knowledge of media law
