The School of Social Work in the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Arkansas, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Social Work to start in 8/12/2024. This is a standard nine-month faculty appointment. The University of Arkansas-Fayetteville is the flagship university in Arkansas and has a Research 1 designation. We are in beautiful Northwest Arkansas, which has a population of over half a million people.
This is an assistant professor search, and we are seeking applicants who are well prepared to teach courses in an accredited graduate and undergraduate program. Based on our school’s social justice mission and equity goals, we seek colleagues who demonstrate experience with, knowledge of, and sensitivity to the needs of culturally diverse and oppressed populations in their scholarship, teaching, and service. We seek candidates who hold a range of worldviews and teaching, scholarship, or service with marginalized communities.
The position is not limited to specific research areas or methods. However, the successful candidates will articulate how their scholarship complements or diversifies the research agendas of current faculty members.
The successful candidate will be expected to provide effective instruction and mentoring to a diverse population in both the BSW and MSW programs and across at least two curricular domains (HBSE, practice, policy, and research). Faculty are expected to teach on weekdays and evenings and should be open to teaching in online formats.
Qualified candidates must have a viable agenda for scholarship and a DSW or Ph.D. degree in Social Work or a related field. The School of Social Work and the University of Arkansas are committed to equity and diversity in hiring faculty who share our core mission of social justice.

About the School of Social Work
The School of Social Work (SCSW) has one of the oldest undergraduate social work programs in the United States. We have offered undergraduate social work degrees since 1940 and we are fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). The School of Social Work at the University of Arkansas reflects the profession's fundamental concerns in its educational goals and objectives. The undergraduate program has two primary education goals: (1) Preparation for culturally competent, empirically based, multi-system, beginning level professional generalist practice across the life course (2) The preparation of students for continuing their professional growth and development after graduation. In order to achieve its basic purposes, the faculty, students, staff, and agency field instructors are involved in a variety of teaching, research, and outreach activities that involve them in the life of the university, communities around the state, and at the national level.
The MSW graduate program offers students one concentration that is conceptualized using the Multi‐System Life Course perspective, which equips students with advanced professional knowledge, values and skills for practice with multiple systems across the life course. Our School of Social Work provides students with opportunities to merge the roots of social work with 21st century technological, education, and research approaches to address fundamental social concerns such poverty and social injustice.
