The Mary Black College of Nursing at the University of South Carolina Upstate is pleased to accept applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor of Nursing with a start date of August 16, 2024. This is a 9-month tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, depending on credentials and qualifications. The selected candidate will teach in the baccalaureate, masters, and /or doctoral nursing programs in both classroom and clinical areas on the Spartanburg campus, and participate and/or lead in scholarly endeavors and service activities at the school, university and professional levels.

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) programs at the Mary Black College of Nursing are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE – http://www.ccneaccreditation.org). The BSN is offered for pre-licensure students in addition to RNs seeking their BSN in the RN-BSN track. The RN-BSN track is offered online and face-to-face and the MSN and post-masters certificate is offered with an emphasis on the Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL), Nursing Education, and Nursing Leadership. In addition, the college recently enrolled its inaugural class for the DNP in Public and Community Health program. The Mary Black College of Nursing has state-of-the-art simulation centers on both campuses. The Mary Black School of Nursing has an enrollment consisting of approximately 450 pre licensure students, 150 RN-BSN and 40 graduate students, in addition to 400 students taking prerequisites for the nursing program. Required Education and ExperienceTo qualify for the rank of Assistant Professor, a doctoral degree in Nursing is required. Eligibility for licensure as a registered nurse in South Carolina is required.

To qualify for the rank of Associate Professor, candidates must meet the requirements for Assistant Professor, have at least five years of relevant post-doctoral experience by the date of the appointment, and a record of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service that meets the College’s criteria for promotion (https://www.uscupstate.edu/globalassets/facultystaff/faculty-governance/faculty-governance-committees/promotion-and-tenure/2022-2023-pt/mbcon-unit-criteria-2022.feb-23.-pdf.pdf).

A successful background check is required.
