Job Description and Duties

If the answer is YES, join CalPERS Learning Technology & Design team where you will use your learning, development, and training technology expertise every day. This Instructional Designer position will provide consultation and support for Web-based course/content design, development, evaluation, testing and deployment through CalPERS Learning Management System (LMS).

Duties for this position include:

  • Knowledge of training needs assessments, adult learning principles, Web-based training, technology-delivered learning, virtual learning, and instructional design concepts 
  • Knowledge of Web-based training design to meet Section 508 and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1) requirements 
  • Skills in design, implementation, and management of training programs using eLearning tools such as Articulate Storyline 360 and Adobe Captivate 
  • Ability to design and provide technical support for CalPERS LMS including support, consultation and troubleshooting for Web-based course/content design, evaluation and testing 
  • Ability to apply html, JavaScript, and other website development tools to ensure user experience is consistent with CalPERS guidelines

Desirable Qualifications

  • Familiarity with SCORM, xAPI, and web design development. Proficiency with rapid authoring tools, such as Articulate 360 and Adobe Captivate
  • Experience working in a digitally collaborative environment leveraging technology platforms like SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, Zoom 
  • Experience designing and delivering training to various audiences using blended delivery modalities (in-person, eLearning, virtual, etc.) 
  • Experience in deploying learning solutions that are accessible and inclusive 
  • Expertise in Instructional Design techniques for adult distance learning 
  • Experience using advanced functionality within a learning management system (LMS)
