Job Description

This staff psychiatrist/psychiatric nurse practitioner position with Behavioral Medicine in Student Health Services is responsible for assessment, psychopharmacological treatment, and management of complex psychiatric issues in undergraduate and graduate students. Member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team with option of a hybrid work arrangement. Care of students may involve coordination with primary care clinicians and community providers. Collateral work includes outreach to the Boston University community including liaison with professors, partner university offices and family, when appropriate and authorized. Attend educational programming and team meetings. This position is 9 months (September May) and 30 hours per week.

Required Skills

  • Master's Degree required, Doctorate preferred or Licensed Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
  • Must be licensed or license eligible to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • 5-8 years of experience, preferably in college mental health, crisis assessment, brief intervention, confidentiality requirements, and referral.
  • Administrative and technological skills required to effectively document in an Electronic Health Record. Ability to work in a fast-paced, team setting.
  • Demonstrated skill in working well under pressure to prioritize and manage multiple clinical situations and to coordinate these efforts as a part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated awareness, knowledge, and skills to interact effectively with persons representing a wide range of diverse backgrounds, namely socio-economic, students of color, LGBTQ, and international students.
  • Self-motivated and self-directed with a commitment to high professional ideals.
  • This position includes rotated on-call responsibilities.
