Broker Dealer Controller, Vice President

The BU Controllership team proactively partners globally with the Businesses, Finance leadership and other Control functions to ensure the optimal design / execution of processes and identification of areas for improvement / best practice implementation for areas impacting financial reporting.

Who are we looking for?

The VP will work as a member of the Broker Dealers BU Controllership team supporting the overall State Street Corporation. The individual should have a strong accounting background and understanding of risks / internal controls – as well as an ability to proactively perform assessments and remediate identified issues. 

This role can be performed in a hybrid model, where you can balance work from home and office to match your needs and role requirements.

Main scope of responsibilities of the Legal Entity Controller/Chief financial Officer- Vice President function include:

  • Partner with the Businesses, Global Accounting Operations (GAO) and Finance leadership to ensure accuracy of financial results and that internal controls are appropriately designed and executed.
  • Engage with global leadership in key business and change initiatives, focusing on accounting related activities and internal controls to mitigate risk; as well as supporting new products and services initiatives
  • Partner with Operations team in migration / integration of CFG US, HK, UK and Portugal onto the Broadridge trading platform along with associated interfacing to the Oracle GL.
  • Oversee financial results and capital levels for specific assigned GM legal entities that support various GM business lines / products.
  • Implement and ensure compliance with GAAP accounting rules that affect accounting globally.
  • Define and monitor key performance / assurance indicators associated with financial reporting.
  • Maintain strong cross-functional relationships and communication channels across global locations including Information technology and operations.
  • Provide additional oversight of the reporting of CFG trading activity in State Street’s general ledger and the reporting to global regulators.
  • Enhance the monthly regulatory reporting.
  • Review internal controls and make control recommendations.
  • Train and mentor staff in regard to the broker dealer industry.

These skills will help you succeed in this role:

  • Strong accounting foundation
  • Understanding of risks / internal controls and ability to proactively perform assessments and remediate issues
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills coupled with a strong track record of executing against goals
  • Ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels
  • Strong customer service orientation and the ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong knowledge of the Broadridge back office platform
  • Capability to participate in back office integration of Broadridge back office systems
  • Familiar with Regulatory issues impacting the Financial Services Industry in broker dealers.
  • Experience in managing annual audits and regulatory examinations

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business Administration or Finance
  • Accounting experience in the financial services industry broker dealers
  • Strong knowledge of self-clearing broker dealers.
  • Strong understanding of the of 15c3-1 net capital rules & 15c3-3 customer reserve rules
  • Experience with legal entity financial reporting & accounting
  • FINRA Series 27 FINOP

Salary Range:

$160,000 - $235,000 Annual

The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
