THE JOB / Account Manager, Team Sports Sponsorship-Client Services (Payment Services Client)

CLIENT SERVICES / Responsible for leading Octagon’s client business and day-to-day management of client programs.

Do you have an insider’s understanding of the NY market? Can you lead a team to victory? Are you equally comfortable pitching strategy recommendations and pitching in at events? If so, you’re in luck. We’re looking for a dynamic Account Manager to play an integral role on our payment services team via the management and implementation of various team sport partnerships across the country in a robust sponsorship portfolio. You’ll be the main point of contact for our client and guide them through yearlong strategic planning/development, property management, marketing promotion/activation of partnership benefits, event management with on-site support, and return on investment tracking/reporting, all while contributing to the overall account and new projects. This position will allow someone to work cross-functionally with client business units to develop compelling sponsorship programming and drive marketing initiatives with our baseball partners.

Our future Account Manager should be someone with experience leading and activating major sponsorship programs, coupled with a customer-centric attitude possessing the social savvy required to work across multiple marketing disciplines. Team Sports Sponsorship experience is required.

While based in our Stamford, CT office, working in this role involves domestic travel as necessary to events and client/partner meetings. This position requires excellent communication and time management skills, creativity, proactivity, acute attention to detail, and an ability to work well on a team.

THE WORK YOU’LL DO

  • Build and cultivate positive client relationships
  • Serve as a reliable agency contact for client sponsorship team, internal client departments and agency partners
  • Lead day-to-day management of NY-based partnerships along with other client initiatives across the country
  • Develop, coordinate and implement integrated sponsorship activations and events, initiatives and campaigns using client’s sponsorship portfolio and assets
  • Support MLB partnership, including integrated programming
  • Support and grow key relationships with property partners and vendors
  • Communicate and implement yearly client objectives and strategy
  • Supervise website-driven partnership content/offers with property partners
  • Manage approvals for creative, advertising, marketing and media integration
  • Prepare program documentation and wrap-up reports including results tracking for season and key events
  • Manage and participate in weekly status meetings by crafting agendas, driving the discussion, and providing recap summaries
  • Assist in asset management (i.e., audit compliance, ticket allocations, and financial tracking)
  • Keep an eye on new business opportunities and monitor industry news and trends
  • Travel as necessary including weekend and/or holidays as needed, around 20% and mostly within the NY market

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • 5+ years of experience, in the entertainment, sports sponsorship properties/leagues/teams/clubs, or event marketing industries; Payment Services industry experience/knowledge a plus
  • A strong background in client-facing roles, preferably with increasing responsibility
  • Deep understanding of the sports sponsorship space
  • Capacity to become knowledgeable on our client’s industry, brand, and product offering
  • Experience in creating exceptional integrated marketing programming
  • Property management experience including: evaluation, negotiation, legal and partner management
  • A keen sense of what is going on in the New York area with the ability to provide current trending recommendations
  • Attentiveness to detail; ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously while producing quality work within strict timelines
  • Strong self-starter with excellent team dynamics; outstanding sense to be proactive and jump in wherever needed
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team while also able to tackle problems effectively and independently
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Exceptional work ethic, strong desire to succeed, and willingness to learn – intellectually curious
  • Extraordinary proficiency with Microsoft Office Software (specifically PowerPoint, Excel, and Word)
  • A “no job is too small” attitude
  • Ability to take direction and run with it

The base range for this position is $60,000 – 65,000. Where an employee or prospective employee is paid within this range will depend on, among other factors, actual ranges for current/former employees in the subject position; market considerations; budgetary considerations; tenure and standing with the company (applicable to current employees); as well as the employee’s/applicant’s background pertinent experience, and qualifications
