The Copywriting Lead is the wellspring from which many concepts, communications, and marketing campaigns get their start. In collaboration with marketing strategy and cross functional creative teams, they support the ideation and implementation of annual marketing campaigns and communications with breakthrough concepts and compelling, benefit-rich copy that persuade, engage and prompt a desired action.

They are the authority on product benefits, unique value propositions, points of differentiation, and brand attributes – engaging multiple audiences, upholding the brand's Tone of Voice and ultimately communicating with the passion and conviction of a born salesperson – the why behind the buy.

In this position you will:

  • Supports Creative Director with proven skills including copywriting and concepting for integrated marketing campaigns – Digital, Print and Video Broadcast
  • Provides copy direction as needed, strategic content recommendations, tactical planning and presents creative rationale to stakeholders.
  • Ideates, brainstorms and pitches campaign ideas to Creative Director. Presents to stakeholders.
  • Trains and mentors other copywriters
  • Crafts succinct, compelling copy for fully integrated marketing and communications campaigns including but not limited to web, digital, social, email, print, events.
  • Thoroughly absorbs creative briefs and ideates with Design, Digital, Content and Strategic teams to arrive at innovative solutions that support the marketing strategy and business objectives.
  • Actively contributes a fresh point of view in brainstorming sessions and tactical discussions to recommend the best creative solution for achieving desired marketing results.
  • Shifts voice effortlessly between a variety of audiences to address key industry partners, internal associates, policyholders, and agent prospects.
  • Responsible for maintaining brand attributes and Tone of Voice for all communications.
  • Proofreads, edits and obtain all approvals (internal, external, and legal) ensuring accuracy and quality at levels of communication.
  • Stays on top of emerging media and industry trends to bring relevance and modern thinking to the creative process.
  • Follows established processes and workflows that assist in successful project management and meets deadlines.
  • Dares to pitch new and exciting ideas.

Qualifications:

Successful candidates will be possess the following skills/capabilities:

  • 7+ years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree required or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven success in writing copy for integrated campaigns for a variety of channels – digital, print, social and video
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Word or other editing software. WordPress a plus.
  • Strategic, creative and analytical skills
  • Ability to multitask, manage several projects seamlessly
  • Collaborative and team-oriented
  • Knowledge of insurance or financial industry a plus
  • Online portfolio that highlights strategy, creativity and results required
