Gen Re LIfe currently offers an excellent opportunity for Senior Project Manager/Scrum Master to work in the Life Global Technology Unit based in our Stamford, CT office or performed remotely for appropriately qualified individual.

Role Description

As an integral part of the Gen Re Global Life Office of the Customer team, the Senior Project Manager/Scrum Master will work with cross-functional stakeholders and external clients to deliver the best-in-class solutions for the Life Health portfolio of projects. This role is responsible for managing initiatives using various SDLC methodologies. Senior Project Manager/Scrum Master is responsible for all aspects of managing project. The Senior Project Manager/Scrum Master is expected to mentor less experiences staff members on project methodologies and frameworks. 

Position Responsibilities include:

  • Manages multiple work-streams, adhere to project governance, prepare status reports and communicate with stakeholders to ensure strategy and execution are aligned with defined objectives, timelines and budgets.
  • Proactively respond to new project needs or changes in scope, identifies and resolves issues, and assesses impact to existing plan.
  • Create “as is” and facilitate establishing “future state” data flows and process diagrams
  • Ensures that the stories have been properly groomed and any outstanding requirements have been completed.
  • Facilitates Scrum ceremonies effectively and on cadence, while ensuring team participation (Daily Stand-Ups, Sprint
  • Reviews/Demos, Sprint Retrospectives and Sprint Planning).
  • Helps improve the team’s software development and delivery through a deliberate focus on continuous improvement and learning culture.
  • Supports and educates the Product Owner to understand backlog management techniques such as grooming and relative estimation to maximize the team effectiveness.
  • Coaches team members and stakeholders to understand Scrum theory, practices, rules and values.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the latest IT trends and technologies in the industry.
  • Ability to work/meet during flexible hours. This person will need to coordinate with international users across different time zones (USA, Europe and Asia). 

Role Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Information Science or related field is preferable.Equivalent combination of experience, education and training will be considered
  • 10 or more years of experience on technical projects, preferably in the insurance or reinsurance sector
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical terminology, concepts and issues in terms understandable to technical and non-technical management and resource staff
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM)
  • PMP or PMI Certification
  • Experienced with MS DevOps
  • Experience in Microsoft Azure, Data Lake is preferred
  • Proficient in the use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, Visio
  • Strong sense of teamwork and ability to both manage and execute projects
  • Ability to work collaboratively throughout the organization by establishing effective working relationships with all departments
  • Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills

Salary Range

106,000.00 - 178,000.00 USD 

The annual base salary range posted represents a broad range of salaries around the U.S. and is subject to many factors including but not limited to credentials, education, experience, geographic location, job responsibilities, performance, skills and/or training.
