R&D Senior Engineer

You will be working as R&D Senior Engineer at global grade 13/14 and will be part of Finance Services business for Finance and Accounting Operations division based in Bangalore, India. In this role you will be reporting to R&D Senior Manager and will be responsible to contributes significantly to successful project results in technology, software, product, and/or solution development, as well as associated Intellectual Property (IP) by identifying, proposing, and implementing innovative solutions. Acts as the first point of contact in Research and Development (R&D)/software development/product engineering for specific product-related issues and maintenance.

Your responsibilities

  • Responsible for leading definition process of should-cost/Integrated Material Cost Out (IMCO) projects by organizing cross-functional workouts and close cooperation with technology, manufacturing, sourcing, product management and vendors
  • Coordinating execution of productivity programs, validate product designs changes, implement manufacturing readiness, and support product launch
  • Working as AME (Advance Manufacturing Engineer) for progressive Tools, Thermoset/Thermoplastic injection molds and Testing/assembly fixture development as per ABB standards.
  • End to end responsibility to develop required tools/molds/fixtures at suppliers, act as an expert/technical leverage to improve conversions with supplier of assembly /part price.
  • Ensure projects meet their financial goals and ensure developed product designs meet industrial electrical distribution market needs defined by product technical specifications and UL, IEC, and ANSI standards.
  • Developing and test product qualification, certification, and reliability requirements.
  • Managing execution of prototype design, build and testing
  • Troubleshooting and performing root cause analysis to resolve design concept failures

Your background

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering / Postgraduate/Bachelor’s degree in Tool design with minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Proven record of engineering analysis and design execution success min 8 years
  • Working knowledge of Change Management, Six Sigma and design for reliability processes
  • Demonstrated experience in applying engineering fundamentals to resolve complex product performance, root cause analysis, and quality resolution issues
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute project plans while delivering financial goals
  • Knowledge of product cost structure
  • Expertise in manufacturing/ production processes (PBCA, Plastic Inj. Molding, Sheet Metal, Tooling ,Castings ,Forgings)
  • Exposure to LV circuit breakers and switchgear; product design & development, quality, value engineering, costing of electrical.
  • Strong organization and analytical competencies
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills with a proven ability to influence and drive change / results
  • Demonstrated high level of motivation and resourcefulness
  • Ability to work in stress conditions
  • Strong team player and willingness to provide support to other team design activities
