The Department of Physics and Energy Science, University of Colorado Springs (UCCS), invites applications for three (3) full-time Tenure-Track Assistant Professor positions in Condensed Matter Physics or Biophysics starting August 2024. Job Duties:

The successful Assistant Professor candidates will establish a research program with national and international visibility and will actively seek external funding. In addition, each position requires teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level, mentoring students, and providing service to the profession, department, university, and community. Each candidate should be able to teach at least 60% of the physics curriculum (undergraduate/graduate) as demonstrated by courses taken and/or taught, research area topics, relevant publications, and letters of reference. Successful candidates are expected to be able to collaborate in research with current faculty members.

What We Offer:

Salary Range: Generally starting from $74,000 - $76,000.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • PhD in Physics or closely related field at the time of application.
  • Must have at least one (1) year of post-doctoral research experience in Condensed Matter Physics or Biophysics.
  • Must have taken at least 50% of the standard Physics courses at the graduate and undergraduate level.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Potential for outstanding teaching based on sample lecture or other measures.
  • Excellent research record.
