The Eric and Wendy Schmidt AI in Science Postdoctoral Fellowship, an initiative funded by Schmidt Futures aims to accelerate the next scientific revolution by applying AI to research in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). This Fellowship provides an opportunity for early career researchers from Singapore and around the world to pursue an independent research path. This programme will provide access to AI tools and training to the Fellows to develop and use AI in innovative methods to make the world better.

This work will be conducted at the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Nanyang Technological University.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out investigations in critical fields of quantum machine learning, quantum information and quantum computation.
  • Discuss work with colleagues and give presentations about the work, prepare papers and submit papers about the work, and advise other colleagues and juniors about AI in science.
  • Conduct theoretical analysis on the fields, which includes reading scientific articles, developing computer programs, and composing scientific papers.

Job Requirements:

  • PhD degree in theoretical quantum information, quantum computation, quantum machine learning or related field.
  • Experience in utilizing machine learning techniques for research in quantum information and quantum computing.
  • Proficiency in programming, for example, with Python, PyTorch, Qiskit, or similar software.
  • English writing abilities for composing scientific papers, proposals, and reports.
  • Effective communication skills for presenting scientific findings and fostering collaborations with international experts.
