Job Title: Advanced Perioperative Ultrasound and Clinical Development Program

Position #:00810918 – Requisition #:30203

Job Summary:

The University of Colorado Department of Anesthesiology is recruiting for its Advanced Perioperative Ultrasound and Clinical Development Program. The chief responsibility of the Department of Anesthesiology is to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients having surgical operations, painful invasive procedures, and childbirth. The University of Colorado affiliated hospitals have top nationally-recognized physicians delivering the best possible anesthetic care as well as a full range of perioperative care.

Key Responsibilities:

This position is a one-year appointment focused on clinical responsibilities and provides two non-clinical education days per month with structured POCUS training.

While working clinically, selected applicants administer care alone, which requires the individual to examine the patient before and after anesthesia, write pre and post anesthesia orders, confirm that the patient is ready for anesthesia before induction, manage the anesthetic period, and follow the patient as long as is appropriate in the post anesthesia period. Individuals will practice only at University of Colorado Hospital on the CU Anschutz Medical Campus.

Candidates must have a strong working and theoretical knowledge of Anesthesiology and Peri-operative Medicine and be licensed to practice medicine in the State of Colorado. All are expected to be either in the examination process of the American Board of Anesthesiologists ("board eligible") or a Diplomat of the Board, or to be holding certification of foreign training that is recognized as equivalent to its diploma by the American Board of Anesthesiology.

Why Join Us:

The University of Colorado Department of Anesthesiology’s Advanced Perioperative Ultrasound and Clinical Development Program is a post-residency clinical development program that is unique to our institution and is not a non-ACGME Fellowship. Selected applicants will practice as full time Senior Instructor faculty in the Department of Anesthesiology and will be provided with two non-clinical education days per month with structured POCUS Training. Each trainee will have close mentorship throughout the year-long program and will complete the ASA’s new Diagnostic POCUS Certificate Program during the one-year appointment. This program is designed for individuals who are not interested in a subspecialty fellowship but want to become successful academic faculty anesthesiologists at the University of Colorado.
