Job Summary

Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology (DEET) is seeking a Sr. Product Manager who will drive the strategy and roadmap for data products and solutions focused on product analytics for Disney’s direct-to-consumer streaming platforms (Disney+, ESPN, and Hulu). This role reports to the Sr. Manager, Data Product Management within the Data Platforms organization. You will develop and expand upon data capabilities that help business stakeholders understand how consumers are using our products. You’ll help Disney stay on the cutting edge of streaming technology using data to personalize experiences, optimize engagement & app performance, support testing and experimentation within the app, and identify new opportunities to leverage data to delight customers. You will work closely with business and technical stakeholders across Disney Entertainment and ESPN including analytics, data science, data engineering, program management, content programming, product strategy, business operations, finance, legal, governance, and more. You will define technical product requirements and help develop solutions to complex data problems to support the growth of Disney’s streaming business globally.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the Product Performance data platform and the associated tooling supporting Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology’s (DEET’s) streaming products (Disney+, ESPN+, Star, Hulu) and other digital properties.
  • Build strategic relationships with key business, analytics, and technology leaders to ensure program and product success.
  • Partner with stakeholders to develop detailed product requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and success measures.
  • Support the delivery team throughout the agile product development lifecycle, ensuring timely releases, excellent communication with partners and stakeholders, and well-thought-out delivery planning. 
  • Build strong relationships with technical partners to ensure consistent delivery and tight alignment on evolving technical solutions.
  • Drive teams on all business readiness activities, including product planning, sequencing, testing, user education, rollout, iteration, and support.
  • Lead efforts to identify risks, resolve key blockers, and establish appropriate resolution paths.
  • Fill in gaps across roles and functions as needed, performing as an adaptive problem solver.
  • Champion a collaborative work environment that cultivates shared understanding, transparency, autonomy, innovation, and continuous learning.

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of product management or relevant technical experience in a data driven product delivery organization.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required.
  • Proven track record of successful agile product delivery, working with a cross-functional delivery team in a global or highly complex organization.
  • Polished communicator comfortable translating stakeholder needs into well-documented technical specifications.
  • Planning acumen and strong ability to break down work and define iterative product release versions.
  • Understanding of big data, data modeling and how to deliver results for the purpose of making timely and accurate business decisions.
  • Highly analytical and collaborative qualities with strong technical, strategic, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to balance competing priorities and make informed decisions in ambiguous situations.
  • Ability to lead through influence across functional and organizational lines.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced operational environment where change is the norm.
  • Experience presenting to and working with senior executive leaders.
  • Knowledge of Agile/SDLC project management methodologies, with an understanding of data engineering, data modeling, data warehousing and big data platforms.
  • Experience in Agile software development with expertise in Scrum methodology and practices.
  • High-level of comfort building a roadmap and working within an agile, Jira-driven operating model.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in computer science, information systems, software engineering, or data science.
  • Experience in a data product/data engineering organization building complex data applications for an enterprise organization.
  • In-depth technical experience with modern data warehouses, data lakes, databases, with an understanding of the pros/cons of different data models and warehouse approaches.

The hiring range for this position in Seattle, WA is $142,516 - 191,180, New York is $142,516 to $191,180 per year and Santa Monica, CA is $136,038 - $182,490. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
