Senior UX Architect

What Will You Do?

The Senior UX (User Experience) Architect is responsible for being an expert in information architecture and user experience design for the Company’s ecommerce platform, encompassing all consumer-facing web channels. Acts as the User Experience Lead over large digital initiatives with support from UX Architects and Senior UX Architects. Their work ladders up to Experience Strategy Leadership in support of business goals and objectives.

Advocates for the end user throughout the project lifecycle and firmly practices the user-centered design methodology. The Senior UX Architect assists in planning and conducting user research, using a variety of research methods and provides actionable insight and recommendations that inform critical design decisions for current and future projects. Supports the identification of business goals and key performance indicators for the digital experience and is responsible for ensuring that any creative or other visual elements that impact the user experience, meet or exceed the needs of our users and best practices.

The Senior UX Architect will collaborate with UX team members as well as stakeholders, product owners, project managers, business analysts, creative, visual design, development, quality assurance and delivery teams to create the user experience and any required documentation needed to bring high quality experiences to life. Accountable for leading user experience design on their assigned projects, mentoring, guiding and coaching junior team members and ensuring existing and future user experiences are maintained and continually optimized based on data-driven insights that contribute to a best-in-class user experience. The best-in-class user experience will meet or exceed user’s wants and needs and will contribute to the Company’s goals to increase conversion and average order value as well as other business objectives.

  • Provide leadership and direction in designing the experience model across channels along with promoting and applying user-centered design methodology on all projects.
  • Apply and train others in best practices for user-centered design and user research.
  • Mentor, train and coach junior UX team members to build their knowledge and skillset.
  • Review and approve user experience architecture, wireframes and designs from junior team members. Ensure that creative and other visual elements meet or exceed the needs of our users, best practices and our desired user experience.
  • Develop a UX roadmap for the Company’s ecommerce platform, supporting organizational strategies as well as guest, customer and user journeys.
  • Accountable to work closely with the business, the user experience team and other internal cross-functional team members to ensure current ecommerce projects are functioning as designed and documented. Ensure business and functional specification documentation is complete and all cross-functional parties are aligned.
  • Conduct research to generate explicit user experience requirements for all digital channels. Research, analyze and make recommendations for new technologies, trends and innovations, interpreting consumer research and data from usability testing, remote testing, web analytics, focus groups and other research methods.
  • Perform stakeholder interviews to elicit business requirements.
  • Perform audits of existing and proposed user experience via competitive analysis, feature/function benchmarking, heuristic evaluation and other methodologies; document and share insights.
  • Assist in new concept ideation. Connect and communicate the impact of new ideas to existing customer experiences and business processes; develop new and intuitive approaches to UX design and architecture.
  • In addition to desktop, ensure users will have a best-in-class user experience on mobile and tablet; this may include responsive design, m-site, mobile app, tablet app, etc.
  • Utilize business requirements and research findings to conceive and model clean and effective designs via wireframes and prototypes.
  • Define relevant user flows and journeys for specific functionality. Create key artifacts such as scenarios, user flows, style guides, mock-ups, rapid prototypes and other fundamental documentation to ensure the business and IT are in sync on the design of the final solution.
  • Collaborate with the UX team on designs, design system standards and style guide.
  • Clearly articulate and justify design decisions and present designs at all levels of the business.
  • Partner with ecommerce team to establish, measure and monitor the user experience and consumer engagement benchmarks.
  • Leverage design tools (Figma), testing programs (Site Spect, UserTesting) and analytical tools (Google Analytics / Quantum Metric) to optimize user experience.
  • Demonstrate the Company’s Core and Growth Values in the performance of all job functions.
  • Make employment decisions and/or recommendations on hiring, improvement plans, transfers, promotions, corrective actions, terminations, pay adjustments, etc.
  • Coordinate and manage the work of employees by directing members of the team to meet the area’s goals. Audit regularly to ensure standard operating procedures are being adhered to.
  • Manage employee performance and assist employees in making improvements to their performance through coaching, mentoring and administering performance reviews. Recommend, plan and/or implement employee training and skill development activities.
  • Audit, maintain and ensure employee time-keeping and absentee records are accurate.
  • Communicate company and departmental issues and goals and facilitate employee growth and development through weekly team meetings, regular individual employee meetings, coaching, training, and company-offered learning opportunities.
  • Manage resources to optimize equipment, facilities, employees, methods and materials.
  • Demonstrate the Company’s Core and Growth Values in the performance of all job functions.

What Do You Need

  • Minimum of 3-5 years in this field
  • Proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator, Figma and other prototyping software
  • Retail, ecommerce experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, UX Design, Industrial or Product Design

UX / UI certifications from any of the following or other credible programs:

  • Google UX Design Professional Certificate
  • Nielsen Norman Group UX Certification
  • Human Factors International Certified Usability or User Experience Analyst
  • General Assembly UX Design Immersive
  • CareerFoundry Certified UX Designer
  • Interaction Design Foundation
  • Designlab UX Academy
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating your ability to design effective user interfaces and experiences for web, mobile, and other platforms.
  • Skilled in UX research, wireframing, prototyping, and visual design
  • Knowledge of web accessibility standards for designing user-friendly interfaces that can meet the needs of people with disabilities and provide an inclusive user experience.
  • Current knowledge of the latest UX/UI trends, techniques, and technologies
  • Ability to bridge the gap between design and UI.
  • Self-directed and work independently, as well as collaboratively within an Agile Scrum product team to define and implement innovative solutions for product direction, visuals, and experience.
