Job Title: Real Estate Financial Reporting & Accounting, Associate

Job Overview:

In this role, the Associate will be an integral member of the BXMT Finance team, with a focus on financial reporting and accounting for BXMT. The focus of the team is to produce reporting of BXMT’s financial results for stockholders and senior management. Responsibilities will include maintaining the accounting records, SEC reporting, accounting policy, and supporting BXMT’s audit process. The Associate will be working closely with the broader real estate debt strategies group, including the operations team, the FP&A team, and legal/compliance.

Job Description:

  • Assist with the preparation of BXMT’s 10-Q and 10-K filings
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly workpapers for internal review and to support the audit process
  • Prepare and review accounting entries leveraging the offshore team and automated systems
  • Liaise with external consultants for derivatives, tax compliance, and other business activity
  • Liaise with internal and external counsel and auditors regarding new accounting pronouncements and regulatory compliance (incl. SOX controls testing)
  • Assist with accounting for subsidiaries and joint ventures
  • Liaise with portfolio operations and FP&A teams for loan and financing accounting matters
  • Assist with the daily treasury function
  • Assist with ad-hoc projects and system implementations as necessary
  • Provide support for public securities offerings and financing transactions

Qualifications:

  • BS (or above) in Accounting with a strong academic record; CPA license strongly preferred
  • 4+ years of public or public/private accounting experience is required
  • Prior work experience in the financial services and/or real estate industries is required
  • Prior work experience with SEC registrants (either audit or accounting) is preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, particularly using Excel

Expected annual base salary range:

$105,000 - $140,000

Actual base salary within that range will be determined by several components including but not limited to the individual's experience, skills, qualifications and job location. For roles located outside of the US, please disregard the posted salary bands as these roles will follow a separate compensation process based on local market comparables.

Additional compensation: Base salary does not include other forms of compensation or benefits offered in connection with the advertised role.
