Fall 2024 - Quality Engineering Intern in GAC Savannah

Seeking candidates to fill multiple Summer Internship positions in the following Quality Disciplines: Quality Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Continuous Improvement and Ergonomics

Students should have the following skills and/or abilities:

  • Conduct research, investigation, and analysis in connection with assigned projects, to ensure conformance to requirements
  • Technical data generation, construction, and analysis to identify opportunities of improvement for Quality process issues
  • Cross-Functional organization interaction required to support all internal organizations in problem solving efforts
  • Ensure quality policies are being practiced; provide recommendations and implement procedures to improve quality/standardization
  • Identify potential process improvements based on Lean, Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement principles
  • Initiate and maintain accurate daily/weekly activity status based on work output, as required
  • Assist in the design and development of key metrics and dashboards to identify project effectiveness

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Perform one or more projects that require project planning, interaction with other organizations and people to coordinate closure of tasks necessary to complete project on schedule with minimal supervision
  2. Self-starter who is eager to learn and accept challenges
  3. Document business processes into Standard Operating Procedures
  4. Have reliable transportation for the duration of the internship
  5. Must be able to work 40 hours per week in person for a minimum of 12-14 weeks during the Fall semester. 
  6. Perform analysis of operations to identify quality, safety, and efficiency improvements
  7. Assist in calculation of aircraft reliability performance metrics such as Failure Rates, Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) and Mean Time Between Unscheduled Removals (MTBUR) from reliability databases in support of internal and external customers
  8. Share responsibility of developing and maintaining SharePoint websites and/or databases
  9. Perform other duties as assigned

Education and Experience Requirements:

  1. Pursuing Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Aviation Sciences, Engineering, Reliability, Quality or related technical discipline required
  2. Prior aviation experience/knowledge preferred
  3. General knowledge of Lean Six Sigma Methodology preferred
  4. Strong skills with Microsoft Office suite required (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  5. Experience with SharePoint, PowerBI, Visio, Catia, or similar applications preferred, but not required.
  6. Prefer minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and must list the GPA on the resume.
  7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  8. Must graduate after December 2024. For Fall 2024, we will accept Summer 2024 graduates only if you have been accepted into a Masters/PhD program for Spring 2025.
