The Disability and Health Programs Assistant supports programs and communications activities of the Oregon Office on Disability and Health (OODH). The mission of OODH is to promote health equity and well-being of people with disabilities in Oregon, and the work of OODH is guide by the values of health equity, accessibility and inclusion, diversity, anti-racism, community partnership, and learning. We envision a future that is accessible, welcoming, and inclusive of all people with disabilities in Oregon. This vision extends beyond the individuals and their families to benefit entire communities. Programs supported by the Disability and Health Program Assistant will relate to health promotion, accessibility and inclusion, health care professional training, and communications.

Function/Duties of Position

The Oregon Office on Disability and Health (OODH) is looking to hire a part-time Research Assistant 1 to the team. Specific duties include: production of program and communications materials, including writing, graphic design, and editing materials used in marketing, health communications, health professional training, advocacy support, and social media. 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in public health, social work, or health policy, or related field OR Associates AND 2 years of relevant experience OR 3 years of relevant experience OREquivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Ability to communicate both interpersonally and in writing and by use of email and virtual platforms (e.g., Zoom).
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in conjunction with detailed protocols and procedures.
  • Intermediate computer skills with email usage, Microsoft Suite, and general system and keyboard skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in public health, social work, or health policy, or related field and current enrollment in MPH program or related field.
  • Personal lived experience with disability or knowledge of disability communities. 
  • Strong interest in health and social service systems and policies that serve and support disability communities.
  • Knowledge of marketing and communication strategies across multiple platforms.
  • Skills in graphic design softwares, such as Canva, Adobe InDesign, among others.
