SUMMARY

The Digital Marketing Specialist develops and deploys tactics to support the Museum’s digital communications strategies. They coordinate internal digital support for new exhibitions and seasonal marketing campaigns. In addition, the position monitors digital communications. The DM Specialist will produce and distribute digital content for Exploratorium’s communications channels, including social media, website, and newsletters. This position reports to the Digital Marketing Manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Executes production of internal email campaigns and provides ongoing support to Integrated Marketing Manager by utilizing best practices, integrating emerging trends, and applying analytics and development in email marketing.
  • Work with internal team, external creative partners, and contractors to support the execution of integrated digital marketing plans for campaigns.
  • Assists in developing digital marketing strategies for exhibitions, seasonal marketing campaigns, public programs, lead generation, and events in collaboration with internal teams.
  • Develops creative digital marketing content including copy, photos, video clips etc. that can be shared via our online platforms including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter (X), TikTok, LinkedIn, and Youtube. 
  • Supports the museum’s internal strategy for paid search (SEM), SEO, and UGC, to support ticket sales, marketing campaigns, and content marketing.
  • Coordinate campaigns and branded SEM and SEO activities, including working with different third party vendors that support the Exploratorium.
  • Execute and support digital initiatives in the areas of SEO, SEM, email marketing and emerging social media trends and capabilities to foster internal participation as well as prospect and visitor and member engagement.
  • Ensure all digital initiatives and activities make a measurable impact and are consistent with overall marketing strategy via goal tracking, analytics and reporting.
  • Develops new partnerships internally and externally to help increase audience engagement and awareness about the museum and increase traffic to our networks
  • Establish and monitor metrics to track online campaign performance, including A/B testing of content and/or design for these campaigns.
  • Serve as subject matter expert on best practice in each digital channel and maintain knowledge of emerging technologies and trends.
  • Ensure that marketing materials comply with all brand and style guidelines, including adhering to proper image rights and logo usage for digital marketing channels.
  • Train and provide documentation for existing and new staff engaging with the Marketing team's digital tools, systems and processes
  • Responsible for programming the Exploratorium's digital signage, and communicating programmatic offerings including implementing, troubleshooting, documenting, cross training additional staff members for weekend and back up coverage, and supporting the evolution to a new system
  • Assign and redistribute tasks as needed, such as jira tickets
  • Facilitate projects with Digital Marketing volunteers and interns, maintaining campaigns on schedule.
  • Ongoing support to Marketing leadership
  • Additional duties as assigned 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • B.A. required, preferably in marketing or marketing communications. Minimum 4 years’ experience in digital marketing and content management.
  • Knowledge of digital marketing tactics, including email, social media, website development, user experience enhancement, CRM maintenance, and basic html.
  • Strong writing skills are a must.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with web and email analytic programs including Salesforce Marketing Cloud and Salesforce CRM, Litmus, Google Ads and Google Analytics. 
  • Ability to turn analysis into action and execute against timelines.
  • Experience using Meta Business Suite, Twitter (X), Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, SnapChat, Youtube, TikTok, Canva, CrowdRiff, and emerging platforms.
  • Experience in SEO and SEM.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to take initiative, multi-task, and prioritize multiple projects.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and an eye for consistency.
  • Resourceful with the ability to work independently and in a cross functional team.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Work experience in a museum, nonprofit, or creative agency.
  • Video editing (phone apps, iMovie, Premiere) experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite and ability to edit photography.
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends.
  • Bilingual abilities are a plus.

This is a regular, full-time (37.5 hours per week), exempt, union position that includes benefits. The starting range for this role is $38.88 to $41.17.
