To add to our growth, we are seeking a Senior Manager – SAP Finance Team Lead to contribute their expertise to our finance team. This position will be based in South San Francisco, California, reporting to the Assistant Controller. This is a hands-on position that will be responsible for maintaining the company’s internal financial reporting infrastructure. In addition, this position is responsible for the accounting and consolidation of multiple legal entities. Our ideal candidate will collaborate with the Company’s subsidiaries to ensure proper consolidation and will partner internally to ensure our systems are designed and operating effectively. Our ideal candidate will have a proven track record in financial accounting, has worked in fast-paced environment, is adaptable to change, highly collaborative, and capable of creating and operate controlled scalable processes.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Leading financial systems process improvements, including refinement and automation of close processes and reporting, implementation of robust accounting system procedures and related integrations.
  • Leading the global monthly consolidation process for six subsidiaries including managing the global intercompany matching process and reports, working with intercompany owners to resolve out of balance accounts, and overseeing the global close calendar.
  • Ownership of the global chart of accounts, including understanding how account mappings impact other teams such as FP&A and External Reporting. Responsibility for governance of the Chart of Accounts, Profit Centers, and Cost Centers.
  • Reviewing subsidiary financial statement fluctuations and management reports and analyses provided as part of the consolidation package to ensure alignment between US GAAP and local statutory accounting in order to minimize differences where possible.
  • Preparing and recording elimination entries and reconciliations of all intercompany balances to ensure proper consolidation of US GAAP financials, including ensuring that intercompany relationships and transactions are correctly identified and set up in SAP.
  • Assisting subsidiary accounting teams as needed with details of transactions and balances and providing guidance on a variety of topics including the design and implementation of standardized processes, internal controls, and ongoing monitoring activities.
  • Coaching and motivating other users on best practices and efficient use of the ERP system (SAP) and other finance related data sources.
  • Understanding foreign currency matters, including foreign currency re-measurement and translation; analyzing foreign currency exposure reports.
  • Maintaining and providing audit support as requested by internal and external auditors.
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business preferred, CPA Preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in an accounting role, including a mix of public accounting and / or industry backgrounds
  • Industry experience preferred: Bioscience, pharmaceutical, technology, or laboratory services
  • SAP experience and super user level preferred
  • Public company experience
  • International and multi-site experience
  • Experience working in rapid, start-up-like environment

The base cash compensation for this California-based role is below. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for bonus, equity, and a generous benefits package. Final compensation amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate skill, experience, expertise, and location and may vary from the amount listed above. Compensation may be different in other locations.

San Francisco Bay Area Pay Range

$160,000—$190,000 USD
