CACI has an exciting opportunity for a Junior Systems Engineer to join our program supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

The Junior Systems Engineer will be responsible for supporting Azure cloud application IaaS and PAAS systems including operations & maintenance of Windows server operating systems.

Location: Washington, DC (Remote but requires occasional customer site visits)

About the Role:

  • Engineer, install, maintain, configure, and optimize Windows server operating systems
  • Perform analysis for collaboration of network / system needs and participate in planning, designing, upgrading and deployment using a project-based timeline
  • Apply appropriate security measures to properly safeguard government systems by implementing industry standard best practices for Development, Operations and Maintenance, and DHS mandated mitigations project and tasks
  • Support the distribution and validation of monthly and critical security patches
  • Designing and implementing appropriate environments for applications, engineer suitable release management procedures and provide production support
  • Collaborate with other teams and Engineering groups in adopting technologies, processes, and best practices
  • Troubleshooting problems, involving the appropriate resources and driving resolution of issues with a focus on minimizing impact to our clients
  • Assisting development teams in migrating their products from one cloud tenant to another cloud tenant
  • Participating in daily stand-up meetings and scrums to report your accomplishments, plans for the day, and any roadblocks you encountered
  • Driving improvements to processes and design enhancements to automation to continuously improve the production environment
  • Document all work and updates in Service Now, JIRA, Confluence
  • Document standard operating procedures (SOP), guides, network diagrams, knowledge base articles

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to obtain a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Entry on Duty (EOD)
  • Bachelor’s degree or 5+ equivalent years of applicable experience
  • Experience supporting Windows 2016 and 2019 operating systems
  • Familiarity with Azure cloud environments
  • Experience collaborating across multiple functional/technical teams to deliver a project
  • Provide Emergency on-call support
  • Ability to communicate with client on a business level and translate their needs into a technical solution
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in interpersonal and written communications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Microsoft Azure cloud certification
  • Previous DHS experience
  • Experience with Nessus scans
  • ServiceNow and JIRA experience
  • Experience working with Agile Development practices.
