W are seeking a Research Principal Sr to join the Freyberg laboratory. The central goal is to study the fundamental molecular mechanisms underlying regulation of neurotransmission in both healthy and disease states. This involves the use of innovative genetic, pharmacologic, and imaging tools to identify neurotransmitter biosynthesis, release, and signaling and their respective roles in neuropsychiatric illnesses including schizophrenia and Parkinson’s disease.
We are seeking an individual with extensive neuroscience background and training to investigate the impact of ketogenic diet in mitochondrial metabolism in the context of bipolar disorder. This study will employ a combination of live-cell imaging, acute rodent brain slice physiology, and electrophysiology to focus on mitochondrial dysfunction in neurons and organoids derived from patients with bipolar disorder.
This position is grant funded.
Purpose:
Provide advanced level research and/or clinical and administrative support to the study. Mentor, train, & assist with supervising junior research staff.
