Stanford Engineering Internship Program (3 Months)

Location: Modesto, Ca

The goal of the Internship Program is to provide an avenue to students to gain business experience in a world-class research and manufacturing organization. This is open to undergraduate and master’s students majoring in Chemical Engineering at Stanford University. Students will have the opportunity to work alongside professional technology managers, gaining valuable hands-on expertise in a variety of areas at the Winery.

What You Will Do

The Stanford Process Technology Development Internship Program is searching for appropriate candidates to fill 3-month positions (approximately late July through October) within our Process Technology Department. Interns will work with cross-functional teams, including operations, winemaking, engineering and operators to execute a cutting-edge technology project undertaken during the 3-month period. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a lab or production environment and increase your skill base for future employment or graduate school. Working closely with cross functional teams, interns’ essential functions are as follows:

  • Assist in the research, development and scale-up of new and cutting-edge technologies for the Winery.
  • Participate in technology projects and assist in managing ongoing development project.

Compensation

  • Hiring Hourly Range Posted: $28.50 - $28.50 / hour
  • Actual compensation paid within the range will be determined by factors such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and ability required.   • Currently enrolled at Stanford University in a Junior or Senior class standing working towards a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering; OR currently enrolled at Stanford University working towards a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • Commit to working for a minimum of ten (10) weeks, starting approximately late July 2024 through October 2024.
  • Candidates for this position must have a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record. Required to obtain a California driver’s license or appropriate state driver’s license within 30 days of hire.
  • Reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Required to lift and move up to 40 lbs when necessary.
  • Required to work at heights of 50 feet, on tops of tanks inspecting wine surfaces when necessary.
  • Required to work evenings, weekends and holidays when necessary.

Min Quals Standard

  • Required to be 18 years or older. This may be in addition to other age requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.

  • Strong applied technical skills and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and team skills and experience managing multiple assignments.
  • Comfortable in a manufacturing environment.
  • Mechanical inclination and an aptitude for design of equipment and manufacturing processes.
