About This Role

Engineers at iRhythm work passionately to deliver innovative solutions that improve the quality of healthcare and the patient experience. As an Engineering Intern at iRhythm, you’ll contribute directly to near-term commercialization efforts for our next-generation wearable bio-sensors, collaborating alongside a small team of multi-disciplinary engineers experienced in bringing medical devices to market. You will be treated as a regular member of the engineering team, inclusive of the associated projects, deliverables and accountability.

This internship will start in June/July and conclude in December 2024. Will need to be able to commit to the full 6 months and also to work a minimum of 3 days a week onsite at our SFB office. 

About You

You should enjoy the challenge of creating and implementing elegant designs and chasing problems to their root cause. You have a desire to build upon your solid foundation in computer science, computer engineering or electrical engineering in order to gain a deep understanding of the design and development approaches that put innovative medical devices into clinical and commercial use.

What You’ll be Doing

  • Implementing, testing and documenting firmware (aka embedded software)
  • Participating in code reviews
  • Optimizing code to run on battery-powered hardware
  • Working with other engineers to understand and correct bugs
  • Learning about medical device software development lifecycles

Desired Qualifications

  • Pursuing an advanced degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Detail-oriented with excellent troubleshooting and critical thinking skills
  • Proficient in C
  • Experience controlling microprocessor hardware such as digital I/O, timers, ADCs, UARTs, low power modes, etc.
  • Familiarity with software debugging in an embedded environment is beneficial
  • Experience with oscilloscopes and test equipment preferred
  • Familiarity with wireless (BLE and cell) a plus
  • Familiarity with version control systems (SVN), and release methodologies
  • Familiarity with MISRA or other coding standards is a plus
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively in a cross-functional environment
  • Care just as much about doing things right as getting things done

What's In It For You

If you work in San Francisco CA for a minimum of 8 hours per week for 90 consecutive days, you will be eligible to participate in iRhythm’s health benefit plans. You will accrue time for Paid Sick Leave in accordance with Company policy and will be eligible to participate in some of iRhythm’s wellness programs. You will be eligible to participate in the iRhythm 401K program once your work history reaches 1,000 hours.

Estimated Pay Range

$30—$36 USD
