We are looking for an Applications Developer Associate with some Informatica, SQL experience to assist in the development, maintenance and support of applications for our Information Services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibility A: Conducts application software development and testing.

  • Develops, documents, and tests application and process following TCH SDLC best practices and standards.
  • Applies knowledge of tools and technologies relevant to software development.
  • Conducts unit and integration testing by developing test data in accordance to acceptance criteria to ensure application

and/or process meet standards and specification.

  • Assists Application developers in implementing changes in accordance with Application Release Management and over

change management procedures.

  • Ensures all developed code is maintained in TCH’s Source Control system following standards for code.

Responsibility B: Deploys applications and supports transition.

  • Assists Application Developers in developing deployment and roll back scripts for releasing changes into production.
  • Creates or updates application and process documentation in compliance with standards.
  • Works with Business Application Analyst to produce configuration procedures in compliance with standards.
  • Prepares troubleshooting and support documentation compliance with standards.
  • Adheres to the Texas Children’s Agile/Workload management processes and participates in daily team stand-up, Iteration

planning and retrospective meetings.

Responsibility C: Provides support and maintenance of existing applications.

  • Participates in the support and maintenance programming activities of existing applications.
  • Packages and supports deployment of releases.
  • Works with Application Developers in the migration of older applications to latest technologies.
  • Analyzes and resolves technical and application problems.
  • Provides third-level support to business users.

Responsibility D: Plans, communicates and manages risk related to tasks.

  • Estimates time to complete individual tasks. Accurately communicate status on individual tasks.
  • Accurately communicates status on individual assignments and prioritize to complete on schedule. Contributes details to

the overall plan within your scope of experience and skills.

  • Raises any known assignment issues and risks immediately through appropriate channels.
  • Clearly and appropriately communicates ideas in writings, discussions and meetings.
  • Identifies the right discussion or meeting in which to communicate an idea,and orchestrate the most appropriate venue and approach to communicate the idea clearly.

Responsibility E: Provides problem solving and analysis related to support of applications and application integration.

  • Analyzes, reviews, and recommends solutions to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements.
  • Independently diagnoses and solves simple problems.
  • Effectively combines research tools and interviewing to investigate problems. Summarizes findings to help team identify overall conclusions.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Experience with application development, design, coding, testing and maintenance
  • Working knowledge of basic control structures and elements of programming like loops, variables, functions, and objects and classes.
  • Knowledge of relational databases, appropriate programming languages, data structures, server and network, a variety of operating systems and multi-tier/web development methods.
  • Ability to demonstrate logic, analytical and verbal and written communication skills, team-oriented work habits, good interpersonal skills and the ability to adapt to different levels of technical experience.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a passion for continuous learning

Required Skills

  • Entry level experience with software development in Informatica and SQL.
  • Test Case Creation, Unit Testing

Preferred Skills

  • Agile: Scrum or Kanban
  • Cloud development (Azure, AWS)
  • Web Services (REST, SOAP, etc.)
  • Informatica Cloud data management, Informatica ETL

Education:

H.S. Diploma or GED

Prefer 1 year experience as a software developer or software engineer. Prefer some Informatica and SQL experience!
