Eaton’s Electrical Critical Power & Digital Infrastructure division is currently seeking a Lead Design Lab Test Engineer to join our team. This position will be a hybrid office role as long as you live within 50 miles of our Raleigh, NC facility. The expected annual salary range for this role is $97,499 - $142,000 a year.

What you’ll do:

As a Lead Power Lab Test Engineer, you will be responsible for leading development for automated engineering test for the verification and validation of power systems for new products including high-power multiphase power systems (UPS), electrical vehicle chargers, and battery storage systems. You will engage with global engineering teams to harmonize test features and tools. 

In this role, you will:

  • Develop and implement test platforms for electrical performance and behavioral evaluation of multi-phase UPS's from 8kW to 2.5MW, 150kW to 500kW EV DC fast-chargers and Lithium Ion 1MW and larger energy storage systems
  • Creation of verification and validation test methods and processes
  • Collaborate with local and global peers to align hardware and software tools and test methods
  • Perform test system Gauge R&R, Uncertainty of Measurement and Failure Modes & Effects Analysis
  • Establish and maintain engineering test data management processes 
  • Implement test statistical process control on collected test data 
  • Develop end user manuals and related system documentation and provide training for engineering staff on use and maintenance of test platforms

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science from an accredited institution with a minimum of five (5 years) work experience with LabView/TestStand test automation in evaluation of electronic circuits or systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Experience with LabView/TestStand test automation in evaluation of power systems electronics, uninterruptible power systems, motor drives or similar products.

Position Criteria:

  • Experience implementing advanced architectures for LabVIEW, Certified TestStand Architect or equivalent
  • Excellent knowledge of programming languages (C/C#/C++, Python)
  • Solid working knowledge of relational database & SQL
  • Experienced in use of schematic capture and CAD tools (i.e., Altium, AutoCAD)
  • Highly experienced with range of test instrumentation (i.e., oscilloscopes, data loggers, power meters, spectrum analyzers and multimeters)
  • Experience in electrical test hardware design 
  • Planning and oversight of electrical equipment installation
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem solving experience in electrical hardware and software
  • Position requires an individual who is self-motivated, self-managed, team-oriented, proactive, attentive to detail, task oriented, and able to overcome obstacles to meet schedule requirements
