Role: Head of Biometrics, India

Hiring manager: SVP Global Biometrics and Data Sciences

Head of Biometrics, India is a core member of the GBDS leadership team and local BMS GCCI leadership team. As such, this position is accountable for the sustained health, growth and continuous improvement of the Biometrics team in India, inclusive of developing effective partnerships with critical stakeholders across GCCI / R&D. This role contributes to setting the strategic directions of Biometrics India and focusses on building the organization through leading the acquisition, development and retention of talent, driving technical and process excellence within biometrics, India and the broader GBDS global organization, ensuring compliance with regulatory, corporate and departmental requirements and policies. 

Roles/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for managing biometricians (statistical programmers, statisticians, data scientists) that populate teams across the entire R&D Portfolio – spanning all therapeutic areas and phases of development.
  • Advises the GBDS Leadership Team on emerging trends locally in a robust biometrics' capability, people, technologies and standards. Implement and oversee any changes that may impact sustainability of organization.
  • Drive operational excellence within the biometrics organization by building an organization, aligning to the brand of GBDS.
  • Provides leadership for ensuring quality in all deliverables
  • Serves as a member of the of GBDS leadership team. Participates in development and execution of GBDS Strategic Plan and is accountable for its successful implementation.
  • Translates company and departmental strategies into operational goals and objectives.
  • Effectively recruits, manages, develops, evaluates, rewards and retains India Biometrics organization resulting in an increasing level of capabilities for the GBDS organization
  • Reinforce the BMS commitment to leadership and development by providing or facilitating training and experiential opportunities and continuous coaching and feedback throughout the organization. Partner appropriately within local and global teams to drive leadership capability.
  • Leads or contributes to the development of innovative hiring, processes and technology including the implementation of associated solutions that ensure the efficient delivery of high quality and timely statistical analyses.

Requirements:

  • Graduate degree in statistics, biostatistics, mathematics, computer science or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years drug development and regulatory experience within pharmaceutical clinical development
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in managing technical professional in a regulated environment.
  • Minimum 7 years' experience in managing people and growing teams.
  • Significant knowledge of the drug development process, clinical trial methodology, statistics, and relevant regulatory requirements for drug approval
  • Demonstrated ability to operate and lead in a matrix organization, building successful working relationships and effective stakeholder management in an environment with multiple lines of authority and competing needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact successfully with senior business partners both internal and external to BMS.
  • Ability to be flexible and organize multiple work assignments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
