The Opportunity with McKinstry

We are adding a Lead Software Engineer to our growing Technology division in Seattle, WA. In this role, you will work with internal and external resources to lead the development of data systems by designing and maintaining scalable data pipelines and assisting with building out new integrations to support increases in data volume and complexity. This position requires a hunger to continuously update skills and knowledge, to stay informed about the latest industry data trends, and to apply new technology and techniques. Some of responsibilities you will have include:

  • Full lifecycle application development, with bias towards agile development.
  • Conducts software analysis, code analysis, requirements analysis, software review, identification of code metrics, system risk analysis and software reliability analysis.
  • Designs, develops, and maintains scalable data pipelines and assists with building out new integrations to support increases in data volume and complexity.
  • Conducts testing and quality assurance.
  • Supports, maintains, and documents software functionality.
  • Solves complex technical challenges and applies decision-making under uncertain circumstances.
  • Evaluates and identifies new technologies for implementation.
  • Creates, documents and enforces development best practices and maintains standards compliance.
  • Funnels potential new service opportunities / change orders to Technology Manager or Product Manager.
  • Serves as technical subject matter expert with internal and external clients.
  • Coaches, mentors, and develops IT peers, fostering growth and development within the Software Engineering organization.
  • Provides technical guidance to software engineers and data specialists where applicable.

What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry

  • Technical proficiency with a deep understanding and expertise in various data structures, algorithms, databases, data modeling, and big data techniques including the configuration and use of Data Lakehouses.
  • Knowledge of Python with a focus on Machine Language experience a plus.
  • Must understand n-tier application design and have experience in C# software development, NET Development (ASP.net, Web Services).
  • Must have experience in Microsoft SQL Server Development (DDL, Stored Procedures, Functions, Triggers, ADO.NET).
  • Must have deep expertise in SQL Server Integration Services, including the authoring, deployment, and troubleshooting of SSIS packages.
  • Must have experience with one or more of the following Azure Intelligent Data technologies: Azure Data Lake Gen2, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Link for SQL, or Azure Synapse Analytics with a preference on Synapse experience.
  • Must have experience with Source Control systems and practices required.
  • Experience with Dashboard and Report generation within PowerBI, Tableau, or other equivalent systems with a focus on creating Fact and Dimension tables used as data sources.
  • Eight (8) years of experience as a Software Engineer required.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Visio required; working knowledge of SharePoint preferred.
  • XML/XLST Definition required.
  • Application performance design required.
  • Application and development interface documentation required.
  • BS Degree in IT, or equivalent education or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Building automation or Energy industry experience preferred.

The pay range for this position is $99,270-$169,900 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Base pay information is based on market location. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
