Job Summary

The Junior Front-End Web Developer role in CooperVision’s IS/Marketing Technology (MarTech) group will be given specific, structured responsibilities for contributing, directly or indirectly, to the customer- and consumer-facing frontend components (HTML/CSS/JavaScript) of the group’s software products and services for domestic and global customers. The candidate will function as a member of a distributed global team.

The Junior Front-End Web Developer will work under the close guidance of a development lead (Senior Front-End Developer), while officially reporting to the Director/Enterprise Architect who leads the MarTech group. They may also be required to work with Scrum Masters, QA engineers, and other developers to ensure adequate planning and preparation of their development activities, using the team’s existing Agile approach to ensuring overall timeliness and quality of deliverables and team success.

This position will be 100% remote, with no travel required.

Essential Functions

  • Maintain, improve, and extend Angular/Ionic based Web and/or mobile application components.
  • Maintain, improve, and extend DataDog Logging, Monitoring and Alerting (LMA) for frontend application code.
  • Employ Test/Behavior Driven Development to maintain and enhance unit test coverage and align accurately with business requirements.
  • Accurately document all newly developed code and functionality as instructed
  • Actively participate in daily scrums as well as periodic development planning & solution design meetings as needed and directed.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Thorough working knowledge of Web frontend development using various modern JavaScript frameworks (Angular preferred). 
  • Solid working knowledge of HTML and CSS.
  • Up to date working knowledge of Web development best practices.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of good software engineering principles, patterns and practices as applied to frontend Web development for performance optimization, information security, maintainability, and observability.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with remote teammates (dev leads, UI/UX designers, other frontend developers, scrum masters, QA engineers) in common development efforts
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively use and contribute to software documentation, including a solid understanding of how to interpret and utilize functional and technical specifications.
  • Ability to carry out adequately specified tasks while being accountable for committed-to goals and milestones.

Experience:

  • Progressive experience in front-end software development with a strong emphasis on Web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
  • Significant experience using one or more JavaScript frameworks such as Angular, Vue, and/or React.
  • Experience working in a cross-functional software development team using Agile/Scrum workflow management tools & processes.
  • Experience working with modern DevOps practices including CI/CD and test automation a plus.
  • Experience coding in a multi-tenant global services platform, including multiple product editions, a plus.
  • Experience implementing i18n l10n requirements a plus.
  • Experience working with secure HIPAA/HITECH and/or GDPR compliant software requirements a plus.

Education:

  • Current upper division candidate for BS in Computer Science & Engineering.
