Position Overview:

As the Sr. Manager of Category Management for Salty Snacks Walmart Inc., the primary objective will be to solidify Hershey's position as a key player in the Salty Snacks category while strategically influencing both Walmart and Sam's Club. This entails developing a comprehensive strategy to leverage Hershey's portfolio strengths for the benefit of the customer, consumers, and the company, in close collaboration with other commercial teams.

The role necessitates strong leadership, a profound comprehension of commercial dynamics, and expertise in Category Management principles. The Senior Manager is charged with enhancing sales performance by delivering advanced insights to Walmart and Sam's Club. This involves not only addressing current category needs but also identifying future growth opportunities beyond the existing landscape.

Central to this role is the cultivation of strategic relationships with Walmart and Sam's Club, fostering collaboration and driving Hershey's Salty Snacks brands to new heights through innovative strategies. By focusing on developing a robust partnership with these key retailers, the Senior Manager will drive category growth and elevate Hershey's position as a leader in Salty Snacks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive category strategies aligned with Hershey Salty Snacks' business objectives and Walmart & Sam’s Club strategic priorities.
  • Analyze market trends, consumer behavior, and competitive landscape to optimize product assortment and ensure alignment with customer preferences and demand.
  • Utilize shopper insights and data analytics to identify growth opportunities and develop targeted merchandising initiatives that drive category sales and profitability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop promotional plans, pricing strategies, and promotional calendar initiatives that maximize sales and ROI.
  • Develop and implement omnichannel category management strategies, to ensure seamless customer experiences in-store and online.
  • Partner with Walmart and Sam’s Club merchant teams to optimize shelf space allocation, planogram development, and in-store execution to enhance visibility and drive category performance.
  • Foster strong collaborative relationships with key stakeholders at Walmart and Sam’s Club, including category managers, merchants, and supply chain, to drive alignment and execution of category strategies.
  • Monitor and evaluate category performance metrics, market share, and financial KPIs to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and course correction as needed.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, finance, and supply chain, to ensure alignment and execution of category initiatives.
  • Effectively lead the Walmart & Sam’s Club Category Management team by providing personalized coaching and development opportunities tailored to their individual career goals, fostering growth and skill enhancement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field required; MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 - 8 years of experience in category management, shopper insights, or related roles within the consumer packaged goods industry.
  • Strong understanding of category management principles, market dynamics, and retail execution best practices.
  • Proven track record of driving category growth and delivering results in a customer-facing role, preferably within the Walmart Inc. account.
  • Excellent analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques.
  • Exceptional communication, influencing, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and effectively manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and syndicated data sources (Nielsen, IRI, Numerator etc.).
