About the Role

A Product Security engineering intern at Harman is responsible for supporting the architecture, design, implementation, and tools for product security feature development. These features are intended for, or in support of, devices produced for OEM end customers.

What You Will Do

  • Learn the difference between IT security and device level security and how they work together
  • Develop and/or move "Intern level" project to the "next step"
  • Pick project(s) with host and set up goals
  • Do threat and risk analysis if needed
  • Architect, design, and implement project(s)
  • Document work done so others can follow
  • Report at intervals and a final report

What You Need

  • Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor's Degree or Graduate program at an accredited institution having completed your Sophomore year or later, taking at least one class in the semester/quarter prior to participation in the internship program and returning to school for at least one semester upon completion of the internship program 
  • Must have a cumulative 3.0 GPA or higher 
  • Interested in future product security career or have taken security classes or have security knowledge
  • Systems engineering interest
  • Analytical mind with good problem solving skills and attention to detail
  • Likes to tinker with Linux/other setups
  • Able to follow a process
  • Following the sometimes mind-numbing ISO-21434 process
  • Programming skills
  • Interest and/or classes in C/C++ programming
  • Interest and/or classes in web programming
  • Good communicator
  • Able to work with others
  • Able to present to staff
  • Good email habits
  • Willing to support meetings (Webex/onsite)
  • Able to write coherent documentation
  • Self starter
  • Interested enough to read/learn about security topics on own

What Makes You Eligible

  • Be willing to work full time in an office in Novi MI
  • Successfully complete a background investigation and drug screen as a condition of employment
  • Must provide own housing and transportation to/from work 
  • Must possess unrestricted work authorization 
  • Must provide full work availability from May 20, 2024 through August 9, 2024 and be able to work 40 hours per week depending on workload
