HOW BEING AN SOFTWARE QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST/APPLICATIONS TESTER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT?

As a Software Quality Assurance Specialist/Applications Tester you will be responsible for conducting and leading testing efforts to ensure our systems are compliant with accessibility standards, such as WCAG 2.0 and Section 508. A successful candidate will implement automated testing with a focus on accessibility compliance and improvement. The ideal candidate will have experience with a variety of accessibility testing tools and methodologies and a strong understanding of accessibility standards for custom web applications and IT solutions developed on COTS platforms. The Tester will follow the customer’s Agile process in collaborating with team members to fulfill system UI/UX objectives.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.
  • 6+ years experience
  • Core Hours 9AM-3PM Monday through Friday

Required Experience:

  • Collaborate with developers to improve system designs for UI/UX requirements.
  • Keep abreast of new accessibility technologies and trends. Educate team members on accessibility best practices. 
  • Participate in usability testing to provide insights on how people with disabilities use products.
  • Expertise with accessibility guidelines, including WCAG 2.0 and Section 508
  • Experience with screen readers, such as JAWS, NVDA, and VoiceOver
  • Experience developing test plans, cases, and scenarios
  • Experience with manual and automated testing tools (e.g. Selenium & Cypress)
  • Application development background and the skills to implement automated test environments and create automated test scripts
  • Experience testing with multiple web browsers
  • Experience testing all the web application layers, including various front-end JavaScript frameworks (e.g. AngularJS and JQuery)
  • Leadership experience
  • Solid understanding of the software development process and Agile methodology
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Security Clearance Level: Top Secret/SCI with Polygraph

Preferred Skills:

  • Understand and apply accessibility guidelines (WCAG, Section 508) to supported systems.
  • Perform manual testing of web applications for compliance with accessibility standards.
  • Implement and conduct automated testing of web applications for compliance with accessibility standards.
  • Assist other testers with accessibility requirements and testing methods.
  • Use a variety of testing tools, including screen readers, to identify potential accessibility issues.
  • Create and maintain accessibility testing documentation, procedures, plans, test cases, and results.
  • Advocate for the inclusion of accessibility considerations in all phases of product development.
  • Ability to code in at least one programming language, such as Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • Knowledge of financial systems
  • Experience testing APIs or web services
  • Familiarity with the ServiceNow and Salesforce platforms
  • Experience with assistive technologies, such as ZoomText and MAGic
