Postdoctoral fellow in Global Health Research

A full-time postdoctoral research fellowship is available for the Integrated Network of Scholars in Global Health Research Training Program (INSIGHT). The INSIGHT program provides a one-year, mentored research training experience at established biomedical and behavioral research sites across 21 Lower and Middle Income Countries (LMIC). The program is available to eligible U.S. pre- and post-docs and LMIC post-docs. The fellow is expected to contribute to study design, implementation, project management, data analysis, and manuscript development within the University of Maryland School of Medicine, Institute of Human Virology, Division of Epidemiology and Prevention. The post-doc will work with multidisciplinary teams across several departments and institutes at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, and other U.S. and international universities. 

Exciting scientific challenges and opportunities for career progression are available for a motivated, high-quality candidate. The INSIGHT program is comprised of four disease tracks, four population tracks, and three science tracks. These tracks include Non-Communicable Diseases, adolescents and young women population, and health systems science. However, research is not limited to these areas. Applicants should be experienced in one or more of these tracks. Other tasks may include preparing study protocols, study design and implementation, presentation at national and international scientific meetings, and grant writing. There are opportunities to work on other relevant projects as well.

We are seeking candidates with a MD or PhD level. A strong quantitative background, the ability to work independently and collaboratively; strong organizational and record keeping skills; fluent English writing and verbal skills; and inter-disciplinary attitude. Position available immediately.

Qualifications

For U.S. Postdocs:

  • Applicant must have completed a doctoral/terminal degree or equivalent in the last 8 years (PhD, MD, DDS, DVM, etc.).
  • Applicant must have completed a doctoral/terminal degree or equivalent by July 2023.

For U.S. Predocs:

  • Currently enrolled in a doctoral/terminal degree program and have completed at least one year of studies

For LMIC Postdocs:

  • Applicant must have completed a doctoral/terminal degree or equivalent in the last 8 years (PhD, MD, MBChB, MMed, etc.)
  • Applicant will have completed a doctoral/terminal degree or equivalent by July 2023.
