Duties & Responsibilities:

Lincoln International is seeking a Private Market Research Analyst to join our rapidly growing Valuations & Opinions Group (VOG). The successful candidate will have strong cognitive and interpersonal abilities, want to develop their professional and personal skills, are excited to gain exposure to a broad range of private market asset classes, and are motivated by the prospect of building VOG to become the leader in providing perspective on the private markets.

The Private Markets Research Analyst position within the Valuations & Opinions Group provides an excellent opportunity to become an expert in the global private debt and equity markets. The Private Markets Research Analyst will serve as the analytical and organizational anchor for private market perspectives produced by the Valuations & Opinions Group and would have direct exposure with our clients who include many of the most sophisticated, blue chip institutional investment firms in the industry. Responsibilities at Lincoln International are often more entrepreneurial than at other firms, providing self-motivated individuals with many opportunities to contribute to a dynamic and growing platform. We envision the Private Markets Research Analyst will be initially tasked with the following:

  • Acquire a deep understanding of the global private debt and equity markets by mining Lincoln’s proprietary transaction, portfolio company, investment and valuation information to develop unique perspective and research.
  • Analyze overall macro and micro market factors influencing the global private debt and equity markets.
  • Collaborate with Lincoln colleagues on "deep dive" perspective and research that is differentiated, substantiated, and clearly communicated.
  • Publish timely and insightful thought pieces about the global private capital markets aimed at a broad audiences such as general partners and limited partners.
  • Alongside the Co-Head of the Valuations & Opinions Practice and Head of U.S. Portfolio Valuations as well as select Managing Directors and a Director, assist in maintaining relationships with external research analysts interested in also publishing unique perspective from their platforms as well as with professional organizations to enhance the visibility of Lincoln as a thought leader in the private capital markets.
  • Attend and provide perspective in capital market meetings that are held with Lincoln’s Capital Advisory Group globally.
  • Attend and assist in presenting relevant perspectives and research at meetings.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Excellent analytical foundation with advanced understanding of the capital markets as well as financial statements and various debt and equity valuation methodologies.
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Experience writing thought pieces is preferred, but not required
  • 3+ year(s) of professional experience in corporate finance research.
  • Capital markets research experience and strong writing skills.
  • Strong data management skills with the ability to perform complex data analysis and reporting using Microsoft Excel, PowerBI, Strata and MATLAB. Anaplan and Workiva experience are also a plus. Ability to multi-task across analytical, administrative and research activities in a detail oriented and timely manner. While high attention to detail is important, being able to identify and articulate private market debt and equity trends is critical.
  • Effective organizational skills and the aptitude to manage people and work product.
  • Strong communication skills and experience interacting with teammates and clients.
  • Minimum of CFA Level II Candidate is preferred, but not required.
