Seeking Senior Electrical Engineer for Pipeline Company

Qualifications:

1. 10-15 years of Electrical Engineering in the Power/Power Distribution & Electrical Equipment Pipeline or Oil and Gas Industry (NOT Systems & Controls)

2. Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering

3. Proficient w/ Managing the operation and maintenance of Power Distribution / Utility systems

They are dealing with the power side of systems so someone with industrial power distribution and/or electrical manufacturing power distribution experience is what we are looking for.

Ideally live in GA but Must live or re-locate to anywhere along the Pipeline (Houston, TX to NJ).

Description:

The primary role of the Electrical Senior Engineer is to perform, lead, and develop various engineering design and technical analysis activities. This position requires advanced knowledge in the practical application of electrical engineering analysis/design and engineering standards, material specifications, pipeline equipment, fundamental system operations, regulatory requirements, procedures and safe work practices. The Electrical Senior Engineer is recognized as a leader within the refined petroleum products pipeline industry and must be able to mentor less experienced team members by delegating appropriate tasks, communicating expected results, and tracking the status of delegated work.

The Electrical Senior Engineer is considered to be experienced and highly technical with the ability to mentor less experienced Engineers. The Electrical Senior Engineer receives work assignments from the Electrical Engineering Manager and works without oversight in order to complete assigned work. The Electrical Senior Engineer also delegates appropriate Engineering tasks to less experienced Engineers, communicates the expected results, provides appropriate coaching and tracks the status of delegated work.

  • Utilizing and developing the requirements of the Safety Program in performing work safely
  • Recognizing and addressing the health and safety hazards involved with the performance of assigned duties within different environments throughout the pipeline system.
  • Establishing a dialogue with key customers in other functional departments to understand the nature of technical issues and bring about a satisfactory solution.
  • Enforcing and promoting the operating philosophies, design parameters, engineering standards, workflow processes, and recommended practices for design and analysis
  • Utilizing the Document Management System to permanently file completed work.
  • Enforcing compliance standards, specifications, practices and/or processes
  • Performing assigned technical analysis/design work with minimal guidance
  • Mentoring and developing less experienced Engineers by communicating the expected results, providing appropriate coaching, and tracking the status of delegated work
  • Preparing equipment and/or material specifications as well as other information for design drawings
  • Developing and approving design drawings, technical analysis, and/or construction specifications for quality, accuracy, and completeness
  • Monitoring vendor equipment testing at the factory for acceptance at field locations
  • Inspecting equipment installations and/or construction work in the Field
  • Developing and revising information for inclusion in Engineering Standards, Construction Specifications and/or Preventive Maintenance procedures
  • Monitoring Preventive Maintenance activities on the pipeline system
  • Providing research and design on technical solutions
  • Representing the team, department and the organization to internal customers and external industry interests
  • Performing technical reviews, evaluations, or analyses as requested to support the systems operation and prepare reports documenting the results of reviews, evaluations, and analyses.
  • Expanding internal relationships to the benefit of the team
  • Assisting Team Leaders by making recommendations for continuous improvement associated with the following:

o Engineering workflow processes and procedures

This person will be responsible for Maintenance Operations including Troubleshooting Pipeline Electrical Equipment.

Responsible for resolving all issues from techs - Troubleshooting w/ technicians. The techs will call when there are power system alarms or there are issues that the low-voltage techs or electricians can't solve in the field. (Most problems can be solved over the phone or virtual meeting and wont require travel)

Examples - Breaker trip or electrical issues on the maintenance operational side.

On the project side – They are the district electrical engineer – they are responsible for electrical review and approval – they utilize outside contractors to do the electrical design but they work with PMs on the Scope of the project for the electrical portion and outside contractors on the scope and design and approve designs – for any other electrical projects coming from the client– they are involved with the overall review and approval – including fuel & hazardous chemical considerations, PHA hazard reviews management change process etc.

Other side of the business – they are responsible for all major electrical assets – power distribution, substation, low voltage equipment maintenance

they build capital plan each year around spare equipment purchases, break-fix plans, and financial plans to include any improvements or upgrades required, general life cycle plan strategies
