Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Senior Process Engineer with specific expertise in Hydrogen production and liquefaction to serve as the Energy practice’s subject matter expert in this growing market. This includes electrolysis and other forms of hydrogen production.

For this role, AECOM offers the freedom and flexibility to work remotely and/or be located at a variety of Energy offices located in multiple locations across the United States ..

Our team provides a wide range of process engineering services across markets sectors including oil and gas refining, industrial processes (chemical, petrochemical, food and beverage), carbon capture and storage, and future and renewable fuels (hydrogen, RNG, biogas, green ammonia).

We seek an expert in the field to support our existing programs and teams as well as develop new skill sets and promote capabilities to our existing and growing client base.

Qualified candidates will have a strong background in hydrogen production coupled with project leadership experience.

The responsibilities of this role also include, but may not be limited to, the following:

  • Client facing, lead process engineer on projects of all size
  • Responsible for the process engineering design work on assigned projects
  • Provide mentorship for the other engineers in the technical team
  • Working with Chief Process Engineer to develop design schedules and budgets in support of the business development
  • Support Chief Process Engineer in development of discipline specific standards
  • Support AECOM strategic posturing to support hydrogen scopes (ie. production, ZEV fleet and fueling, hydrogen hubs and other planning)
  • Coordination with the design team to direct completion of engineering drawings.
  • Multi-discipline collaboration on the development of PFD’s, P&ID’s, data sheets, isometrics, asset and tie-in lists, etc.
  • Provides technical expertise for studies and design efforts, and presents complex technical solutions to clients.
  • Performs quality control reviews of work developed by others
  • Troubleshoot and recommend value engineering/cost-effective solutions to problems, including those that arise during design and construction phases.
  • Participate in project and client meetings
  • Generate internal and external technical presentations
  • Travel to project site and meetings as needed
  • Interact with vendors, regulatory agencies and contractors

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering
  • 8+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Relevant experience in Hydrogen production experience and expertise (incl electrolytic)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced academic credentials
  • Engagement and participation in industry professional organizations
  • Experience in ammonia production
  • Experience in renewables: Renewable Natural Gas, Biomass, Gasification, Carbon Capture
  • Oil and gas experience
  • Proficient in simulation software like Hysys, ProMax or Aspen+ EIT certification and/or Professional Engineering licensure preferred
