Overview:

The Public Sector Specialist can take a variety of forms, vendor-based, market-based (e.g., DoD, SLED), or customer-based. The common thread is to Identifies opportunities for business expansion in public sector. The primary purpose of the Public Sector Specialist is to work with the TD sales team to support their strategy in public sector. The person in this role must develop and maintain business relationships by providing solutions for defined account or vendors. Their work must achieve the identified strategy and business financial objectives of Tech Data Sales in public sector. While the public sector accounts are owned by the overall sales team, this role does require independent ownership and management of accounts, with quota-based growth responsibility.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities Required:

  • Serve as Public Sector subject matter expert to designated accounts, vendors, and TD Sales team (40%)
  • Responsible for the execution of the strategic customer growth plans and business relationships in assigned account(s) by providing value added solutions. (30%)
  • Identifies and creates opportunity demand for products, coordinating the supporting seminars, training and resource awareness to assigned customers that drives growth plan success in the targeted accounts (10%)
  • Performs analysis and reports results of various program impact for identified customer(s) notifying the sales teams of success, issues and future growth plan strategies (10%)
  • Maintains and drives trending knowledge of products, competitors, technology and customers in the assigned supplier product market (10%)

Other Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Additional duties as assigned
  • Meets attendance and punctuality standards

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Other Education / Certifications: Technical certifications
  • Knowledge of Federal contract vehicles
  • Knowledge of State & Local contract vehicles
  • Ability to leverage contract vehicles to develop new business
  • SLED experience is preferred.
  • Experience and/or knowledge with the following contract vehicles is preferred: NCPA, Omnia, Equalis

Working Conditions:

  • Occasional non-standard work hours or overtime as business requires.
  • Professional, office environment.
  • Occasional Travel Required ( not to exceed 25%).

  • Possesses strong organizational and time management skills, driving tasks to completion.

  • Able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Able to build solid, effective working relationships with others.
