Org. Setting and Reporting

This position is located in Bouar, within the Transport Section of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA). The Transport Assistant a reports to the Head of the Section/Unit or a Transport Officer. The incumbent carries out a variety of routine tasks such as: assists in processing trip tickets or generating reports, assists in preparing the mission driving orientation briefing, assists in conducting practical driving tests.

Responsibilities

Within delegated authority, the Transport Assistant G-3 will carry out the following duties: • Assists in processing trip tickets. • Assists in preparing the mission driving orientation briefing. • Assists in preparing and conducting written driving tests. • Assists in conducting practical driving tests. • Updates a detailed database of UN staff being assessed, tested and issued UN permits. • Assists in preparing UN driving permits for issue. • Compiles monthly insurance and accident reports. • Generates reports from the electronic vehicle monitoring system (EVMS) & Fleet Log and other reports if required. • Carries out any other duties directed by the supervisor

Education

High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Job - Specific Qualification

A valid driving license and certified safe driving record is required. A post-secondary technical or vocational qualification in relevant field or equivalent combination of training and experience in driving testing is desirable. A nationally recognized driver-testing qualification or equivalent is desirable.

Work Experience

At least two (02) years of experience in the Transport section is required. The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced to zero (0) for candidates who possess a first-level university degree or higher.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in French is required. Knowledge of English is desirable.

Assessment

Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by a competency-based interview.
