Blockchain Platform Cloud Operations, DevOps 

As a member of Oracle Blockchain Platform Cloud DevOps team, your role is to provide support to Oracle cloud customers to ensure their service availability and enable good response time for their requests.

It includes resolving product or service problems by clarifying the customer's complaint, determining the cause of the problem, selecting and explaining the best solution to solve the problem, expediting correction or adjustment, following up with Product / Service development teams to ensure resolution, and also proactively monitoring for possible issues.

You will also maintain, administer, monitor and report the state of large-scale Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, being responsible for its high availability and best possible performance.

Working as part of Ops shift, you will be part of the 24/7/365 Oracle Blockchain Platform Cloud operations team with the mission to maintain and enhance the global cloud environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform shift DevOps coverage managing Blockchain Platform Cloud Service
  • Provide on-call support 24/7/365 for Blockchain Platform Cloud Services 
  • Fulfil incident requests from internal and external customers surrounding the management of Blockchain Platform Cloud within applicable Service Level Objectives
  • Follow standard operating procedures and policies in administering the Blockchain Platform Cloud Services.
  • Execute approved changes during change windows
  • Remotely deploy, configure, troubleshoot and optimize hardware
  • Contribute to the Oracle DevOps toolchain through Java, Python and bash scripts
  • Monitor and test system performance and provide performance statistics and reports
  • Recommend and execute modifications to Service in order to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance
  • Participate in project delivery aimed at increasing capabilities around monitoring, notification, configuration and deployment of servers and applications within Oracle Blockchain Platform Cloud Service.
  • Coordinate with network engineering, security, business application, and other functions to ensure availability, reliability, and scalability of the service to meet business demands

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Background

  • BS computer science or Equivalent Qualification and 8+ years equivalent work experience
  • At least 2 years exp in Cloud technologies such as Oracle Cloud, AWS, Azure, etc…
  • At least 2 years production exp. in supporting any Unix-like operating systems (Linux/Unix/Solaris) and distributed systems
  • Working knowledge of web applications, http requests/responses, headers, response codes, Basic web development experience a plus.
  • Basic System Administration, Shell scripting with Perl/any Shell scripts, Python, Terraform. 
  • Ability to communicate well at all levels; Strong organizational skills; Self-motivating; Ability to work in a team environment; Ability to learn new skills quickly with little supervision
  • Additional Skills (preferable) include knowledge of blockchain technology, Networks, Understanding of IP networks, ability to analyse and monitor network traffic, DNS
  • Prior experience in Technical Support is a plus, ITIL (training or certification) or IT Service Management is a plus
  • Good technical knowledge of current network hardware and standards
  • Hands-on hardware and software troubleshooting experience

  • Certification(s) in a Linux Administration in any distribution
  • Knowledge of Blockchain technology and its applications
  • Basic understanding of Oracle Database Administration
  • Prior experience in mission-critical support role
  • Prior hands-on experience with Java/Python Development
  • Experience with Jenkins/Hudson or other continuous integration environments
  • Experience with GIT
  • Experience with Oracle Linux/Solaris
  • Experience with virtualization frameworks such as Docker, VirtualBox, OVS/OVMM
  • Experience with Kubernetes 

Work Conditions

  • On-call availability, including nights, holidays, and weekends
  • Shift/On-Call schedule may require office work outside of standard business hours.

Work with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team on the shared full stack ownership of a collection of services and/or technology areas. Understand the end-to-end configuration, technical dependencies, and overall behavioral characteristics of production services. Responsible for the design and delivery of the mission critical stack, with focus on security, resiliency, scale, and performance. Authority for end-to-end performance and operability. Partner with development teams in defining and implementing improvements in service architecture. Articulate technical characteristics of services and technology areas and guide Development Teams to engineer and add premier capabilities to the Oracle Cloud service portfolio. Understand and communicate the scale, capacity, security, performance attributes, and requirements of the service and technology stack. Demonstrate clear understanding of automation and orchestration principles. Act as ultimate escalation point for complex or critical issues that have not yet been documented as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Utilize a deep understanding of service topology and their dependencies required to troubleshoot issues and define mitigations. Understand and explain the affect of product architecture decisions on distributed systems. Professional curiosity and a desire to a develop deep understanding of services and technologies.
