OPENLANE is seeking a talented design intern for Summer 2024. OPENLANE helps the world’s largest automotive manufacturers, financial institutions, dealer groups, fleet operators and rental companies buy, sell and trade used vehicles. Every day brings a new design challenge and an opportunity to work with both business leaders as well as other creatives on the team, from videographers and motion designers to digital designers and developers.

What You’ll Do at OPENLANE:

  • Create engaging designs to support OPENLANE’s businesses and customers. 
  • You will produce and version work through digital and print applications , including but not limited to Adobe CC, Figma, Canva and Google Slides/Microsoft PowerPoint for various deliverables from websites and emails to flyers and social media posts. 
  • Designs will require strong attention to detail and adherence to style and brand guidelines. 
  • Work collaboratively with fellow designers and members of the marketing team by supporting all phases of the design process. 
  • You will have the opportunity to work on many different types of design projects, pitch ideas, and own design deliverables along the way. 
  • Help maintain and organize digital asset libraries, ensuring cohesive design language, file labeling, easy access for sharing, etc. 
  • Research design trends, best practices, and competitor analysis to inform creative decisions and strategies. 
  • Show up ready to learn and build new experiences as a part of a dynamic, multi-disciplinary creative team. As a design intern, it’s also necessary to be receptive to feedback and have a mindset of continuous improvement. 

The skills you need:

  • Preferred rising Junior or Senior in a design-related bachelor’s program.
  • Able to work with design software including Figma, Adobe CC product suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and Canva.
  • Creative portfolio PDF or website that demonstrates strong visual design skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills and proven ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders across the company. 
  • A proactive individual who is excited to learn and build experience as a part of a dynamic creative team. 
  • Interest in improving the company brands through design and user experience best practices. 

Internship duration & work location:

This is a summer internship with a start date ranging from May - June and ends around the end of August. Candidates will be required to work in our Carmel, IN HQ office from Tuesday - Thursday, with the option to work remotely Monday and Friday.
