Overview

  • This position will be physically located in Kuwait in support of LOGCAP** 

Under the direction of the Air Travel Supervisor, oversees an Air Travel Section for a US Government contract by coordinating all operations in the Travel Section. The Air Travel Lead shall be able to read and interpret military orders and be familiar with and train subordinates on all applicable booking regulations and official travel documentation requirements. Must be well versed in Joint Travel Regulations (JTR), Defense Travel Regulations (DTR) Part I, Passenger Movement, as well as host country and global travel regulations and policies. Must be familiar with the Fly America Act. Provides oversight of and direction to personnel and subcontractors. Responsible for monitoring, interpreting, and distributing CTO airlift and other related reports as stated in PWS for Official Travel, Unofficial Travel, and R&R Leave requires strong customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal. Must be knowledgeable in the Global Air Transportation Execution System (GATES) and able to perform this function if/when the GATES operator is unavailable.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors the processing and control of all air travel movement records and documents.
  • Develops, adapts, and implements policies and procedures to ensure the operational effectiveness of Air Travel operations to support contract requirements based on industry best practices.
  • Provides training and oversight for personnel using automated computer systems and programs to process Air Travel (SABRE, GATES).
  • Implements and maintains cost controls and identifies potential cost savings initiatives.
  • Implements continuous improvements to include motivating staff to promote ultimate traveler/customer satisfaction.
  • Analyzes CBA/IBA Reconciliation Reports and Refund Reports to identify any potential discrepancies.
  • Identifies training deficiencies and conducts on-the-job training as required.
  • Ensures that all employees follow established guidance regarding quality, training, and safety programs.
  • Ensures proper maintenance and control of all publications, forms, and files required for air travel operations.
  • Compiles/reviews data and submits reports as required.
  • Responsible for completion of monthly cost analysis and various CDRL requirements.
  • Performs other duties and assignments as required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications: One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.
  • High School graduate; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Prior experience as a US Army 88N or Air Force 2T2X1 – Air Transportation a plus.
  • Ability to obtain host nation driver license.
  • Must be CAC Eligible and/or able to obtain a CAC
  • Experience:
  • 5 year’s experience in Global/Travel management.
  • Corporate online Booking Tools. (Sabre/GDS)
  • Travel agency management.
  • Work experience with AFI 24-101 (Preferred).
  • Skills:
  • Must possess great attention to detail as well as organizational skills.
  • Must have the flexibility to adapt to ever-changing mission priorities and needs.
  • Must have strong analytical skills.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft applications and possess a strong knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Outstanding oral and written communications skills required.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Supervise the Air Travel Department.
  • Working Conditions:
  • Must be capable of working in an extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, dry, duty, desert environment with average temperatures of 30 degrees in the winter and 130 degrees in the summer months).
  • Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well.
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents.
  • Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations.
  • PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.
  • Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.
