Position Description:

Ryerson has an opportunity for a Operations Supervisor position. As an Operations Supervisor you are responsible for directing the efficient function of plant operations, understanding production goals and implement actions as necessary to meet objectives, and you will be the backup to production scheduling. You will also provide leadership to direct reports and facilitate problem solving team building activities.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Understands quality goals and implement actions necessary to meet goals
  • Ensure training is effectively carried out and oversee completion of training checklist
  • Communicate with other departments within facility as well as other Ryerson locations
  • Understand customer requirements, participate and advise on decisions regarding suitability of material and processing capabilities
  • Provide direction and coaching in safe work practices: support safety goals
  • Review working conditions and practices and ensure corrective actions are carried out to eliminate workplace hazards
  • All other duties as assigned or duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice

Position Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/ GED is required; Associate or Technical Degree is a plus
  • 1-3 years supervisory experience in a warehouse setting preferred
  • Knowledge of various employment laws (i.e., OHSA) and government regulations (i.e., DOT)
  • Knowledge of warehouse machine and equipment operations, experience working with slitting and cut-to-length lines, etc. in a metals warehouse environment is a plus
  • Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Demonstrated verbal, written and interpersonal skills
  • Understands how to help lead change within a dynamic environment
