Your 'day to day'

As a Senior Scientist - Data Analytics, you will provide effective decision-making Consumer Sciences (CS) data analytics to support business strategies and needs. You will develop and implement approaches to decode consumer insights into technical characteristics that imply the deployment of new or improved data analytics. You will also lead multi-disciplinary/cross-functional problem solving teams with company-wide scope, where little precedent exists, as well as serve as a technical resource and advisor to upper management.

More specifically, you'll

  • Proactively Lead the design, analysis, and interpretation of experiments that shape decision-making across the company; develop models to help understand user behavior, find opportunities and make better product decisions to : decode consumers quantitative subjective data into sensory objective measurements and allow for new products innovation or reformulation (PrefMap, Drivers of Liking....), correlate sensory and instrumental data and increase speed and efficiency of products screening, correlate Clinical and Consumer/Sensory data to unleash new insights and bring further understanding of consumers behaviours and products promises.
  • Propose, test and implement new experimentation methodologies, causal-inference approaches that can sharpen our products designs and innovation portfolio, guided by tangible Consumer Centric data.
  • Research, identify and implement new frameworks to better measure success of products and shape strategy.
  • Liaise with multiple key teams to understand their needs, agree on the deliverables and share the outcome of the work done in a comprehensive manner on time. Collaborate across sites and/or functions to generate innovative solutions and ideas to raise technical challenges and direct potential vendors / external resources for support to project deployment or technical resolution related activities.
  • Lead the creation of an integrated Data Management tool/platform between Consumer Sciences and Consumer Insights & Analytics to allow for much more powerful & comprehensive Data analysis and mining across studies and across subjective and objective consumer/human centric data sets.
  • Perform knowledge management via data compilation, review and storage in line with Company, FDA or any other equivalent accreditation authority requirements. Include latest data analytics developments, findings and lessons learnt, also from other teams, to secure reliability and relevance of existing CS data analytics toolbox. Drive continuous improvement initiatives for this purpose.
  • Provide guidance / training to relevant parties to ensure appropriate scientific / technical expertise is used and transferred to meet business in line with agreed resource requirements. Act as specialist in the specific Statistical/Data Analytics field related to Consumer Sciences, also in front of Senior Management upon request.
  • Carry out all of the team's activities ensuring that PMI Compliance Policies, standards, and laws relating to these activities are fully respected, integrated and understood, as well as implement adequate processes to ensure confidentiality of information.

Who we're looking for

  • MSc in Statistics or equivalent experience applied to Consumer Sciences (also called Consumer Technical Insights or Product Experience design) or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant industrial work experience in the area of interdisciplinary research (including years of postdoc if any), ideally in Consumer Sciences. Demonstrated expertise in successful projects applying statistical analyses to improve a product or business. Meaningful experience in Business Intelligence/Data Science, as well as in data cleaning, preparation, refinement, manipulation via structured tools.
  • Strong analytical skills with good understanding of: Descriptive Statistics and visualization techniques, Modelling (regression techniques) & segmentation of Subjective and Objective data, Machine Learning (Supervised and Unsupervised Techniques), Programming & related methodology expertise: Excel, Power BI or Tableau, SQL, Python.
  • Excellent command of the Microsoft Office Package
  • Advanced ability to translate business questions into analysis and experiments that yield business insights and shape the company strategy, as well as to distil sophisticated analysis and/or work into high-credibility outcome and concrete conclusions.
  • Experience in leading, planning, and carrying out projects across departments within agreed scope and timing while contributing to carry out PMI strategy. Ability to reinforce a project management culture by actively engaging partners and balancing priorities and time limits.
  • Creative mindset, always looking for solutions and opportunities, ready to take a challenge, collaborative team member and lifelong learner.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • Proficiency in English, both verbal and written.
