Summary

Brandywine has several significant development efforts currently underway, aggregating approximately $5 Billion of total development value. The development pipeline is primarily in Philadelphia (Schuylkill Yards) and Austin, TX (Uptown ATX). In addition to these master planned communities, Brandywine also has a growing university and healthcare business, having recently completed a $300 Million medical facility for a healthcare system and a current master planning assignment for an East Coast university. Brandywine’s forward development pipeline consists of 22% of commercial office, 27% of life science, 42% residential, and 9% of retail and hospitality.

Brandywine is seeking a growth oriented, well rounded, dynamic real estate professional to lead and oversee, and execute capital markets strategy for the organization.

The selected candidate will be a known market leader with credibility and experience in all phases of capital raising. Strong managerial, communication, interpersonal skills and leadership qualities are important. This position requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in financial markets, real estate finance, and a deep understanding of commercial real estate trends. This position will play a crucial role in securing capital, managing financial risks, and driving strategic initiatives to optimize the organization’s financial position. The candidate must have the ability to manage multiple projects and respond to critical timelines. They must be self-driven, highly motivated, and goal oriented. They will lead a team of dedicated investment professionals operating in the Philadelphia and Austin, TX markets.

Responsibilities

The Senior Vice President’s specific responsibilities and duties under the direction of the President/CEO include, but are not limited to the following:

Capital Strategy Development.

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive capital markets strategy focused on private investors aligned with the organization’s business objectives.
  • Evaluate and recommend optimal capital structures, financing options, and funding sources.

Relationship Management.

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with financial institutions, investment banks, private equity firms, sovereign wealth funds and other capital providers.
  • Negotiate and structure financing agreements, ensuring favorable terms for the organization working with the CEO and CFO from both an economic and financial reporting perspective.

Deal Origination and Execution.

  • Identify and assess potential investment opportunities in commercial real estate, including direct asset investment, preferred equity and structured finance opportunities.
  • Assist with structuring optimal financing strategies in our growing University business.
  • Lead the execution of financing transactions, including debt placements, equity raises, and joint ventures.

Risk Management.

  • Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate financial and company marketing risks.
  • Monitor market trends, interest rate movements, and other factors affecting the commercial real estate finance landscape.

Financial Modeling and Analysis.

  • Conduct detailed financial analysis and modeling to support investment recommendations.
  • Evaluate the financial feasibility of potential projects and assess their impact on the organization’s overall portfolio.

Team Leadership and Development.

  • Provide strong leadership for other key executives, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Mentor and develop team members, ensuring a skilled and motivated workforce.

Market Intelligence.

  • Stay informed about market trends, competitive landscapes, and emerging opportunities in commercial real estate and capital markets.

Supervisory Responsibility

  • This position may have multiple direct and shared reports.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 20 years of working experience in the private capital markets preferably in a deal sourcing capacity with a well-regarded private equity firm.
  • Progressive responsibility with primary experience in the Greater Philadelphia marketplace; ancillary experience in DC, VA, and/or TX markets a plus.
  • Proven track record of successfully structuring and closing complex financing transactions.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to build and manage high-performing teams.
  • Excellent analytical and financial modeling skills.
  • Team player/team leader.
  • Ability to multi-task numerous assignments and prioritize.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiating skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of commercial real estate markets and financial instruments.

  • Frequent travel throughout the greater Philadelphia regions and possible travel in DC/TX as well as other financial hubs throughout the U.S.

Education and Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Real Estate, Engineering, or a related field is required.
  • MBA or master’s in finance or CFA designation is a plus.
  • License Real Estate Salesperson or Broker a plus.
