Lead DevOps Engineer

This role sits within our Cloud, DevOps and Security (CDS) practice at Slalom Build. Our CDS Engineers build the secure automation capabilities that enable our application and data engineers to unveil their products to the world, as well as migrations of existing workloads to public clouds. Our goal is to create a platform to make a product smart, secure, and fast while minimizing toil. If you are ready to bring your skills to work alongside our team of builders, we promise you’ll be working hands-on in the cloud with some of the newest technologies out there. What will you do? 

  • Act as a hands-on, technical lead for CDS engineers on multi-functional product teams creating purpose-built software products for our clients
  • Work directly with client and Slalom teams by leading and being accountable for the design and delivery of modern engineering Cloud, DevOps, and Security solutions
  • Assist with estimating work efforts required for each phase a client project
  • Provide domain expertise in Cloud, DevOps and Security topics focused on the creation of scalable, resilient, and automated solutions
  • Participate and/or drive client discussions to understand their business requirements and communicate our approach to modern Cloud, DevOps and Security engineering
  • Develop project/technology case studies, training materials, and technical guidance to Slalom project teams
  • Help grow our culture of learning by taking part in and coordinating opportunities such as presenting at technical conferences, community groups, writing blog articles, and contributing to partner-coordinated workshops 

What will you bring?

  • Demonstrated experience working with a range of AWS services and an interest in working with other major public cloud providers
  • Experience designing and implementing end-to-end Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines
  • Experience in Configuration Management and Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g. Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM, etc...)
  • Experience creating and delivering complex solutions utilizing common scripting/programming languages (e.g. Bash, PowerShell, Python, Go, etc...)
  • Exposure to common container solutions such as Docker, Kubernetes or ECS/EKS
  • Experience in leading and collaborating across multiple functional and/or technical teams to deliver an Agile-based project
  • Demonstrated growth mentality, enthusiasm about learning new technologies quickly and applying the gained knowledge to address practical business problems
  • Ability to lead conversations with clients on a business level and translate their needs into technical solutions
  • Previous hands-on production support experience
  • Strong DevOps background (culture, process, and tooling aspects)
  • AWS Professional and/or Associate level certifications are a plus
